Liberty's Torch

Updated on March 27, 2017

In the harbour stands a statue, representing liberty, and is her name,

Over the years she's found a grand following, a flowering of her fame.

She stands for the freedom of all the people, making her well revered,

Her strength, representing our democracy, to make her so endeared.

Eighteen-eighty-six marks the official date of the statue's own dedication,

Now she stands, as a time-tested symbol, all welcoming her, in adoration.

Over many years, through wars to try a nation, much honored veneration,

Standing guard in the harbour, as an angel of strength, held in admiration.

As an unrelenting beacon in the dark night, our lady stands ready to fight,

Reminding us all that we are a great nation, so representing what's right.

Even in worst of times, that we must hang on, remembering days, bright,

We'll forever be the world's champion, seen by our lady, her torches light.

Truly our liberty is at stake and only by the grace of god will we be able to overcome this perilous time. Thanks for your support. whonu

We used to have coins that celebrated our dedication to liberty. George Washington said that "Our liberty depends upon our unity." I suspect our liberty is currently in danger, if President Washington's "Farewell Address" remains true today.
