Lie to Me: A Song About Love

Updated on May 28, 2012

Lie to Me

Lie to me when I ask if we’ll be okay

Twenty years from now when the stars fade away

Will you still hold my hand?

And we’ll see the world in different ways

And reminisce on different days

Will you still understand?

The pain in your heart is a bullet

But your target’s just an empty frame

Take my hand, don’t run away

The world ends, we’ll be okay

You’re not as hopeless as you seem

Stars may die but I still dream

Even as we run away

Ashes fall on yesterday

Everywhere’s a new escape

You turn to me and say,

“We’ll be okay”

Try to imagine the world through my eyes

Flickering now like candlelight

As heaven falls apart

Your world shatters, so does mine

Every day another try

We’re shadows in the dark

Lost with no direction

As I stumble through your heart

Take my hand, don’t run away

The world ends, we’ll be okay

You’re not as hopeless as you seem

Stars may die but I still dream

Even as we run away

Ashes fall on yesterday

Everywhere’s a new escape

You turn to me and say,

“We’ll be okay”

Everything we dream about

Exists somewhere, I have no doubt

Look me in the eyes and say

You don’t feel the same way

I love you with all my heart

Please don’t tear my soul apart

Take my hand, don’t run away

The world ends, we’ll be okay

You’re not as hopeless as you seem

Stars may die but I still dream

Even as we run away

Ashes fall on yesterday

Everywhere’s a new escape

You turn to me and say,

“We’ll be okay”
