Lifacide - Barnsey's Attempts at Poetry

Updated on June 18, 2012

New Foreward 6/5/2012

I wrote this after watching a movie on lifetime channel. There I said it. It was about three long time friends who had their seperate lives but always looked out for one another. The one girl was standing on a ledge on a tall building getting ready to jump and when her friends arrived and shouted, "Dont jump! We dont want you to die!" She shook her head and shrugged, "I dont want to die! I just dont want to live!"

That struck me so hard at that moment as so simply profound that I went ahead and wrote the lyrics and music simultaneously to a song based directly on that phrase.

Lifacide

She was standing on a ledge

Said she'd had enough of this

Said to her, "Please don't jump!"

Said she didn't wanna but she felt she must

Don't know why she died that day

But I know someone, somewhere should pay

I don't want to die, she said

I don't want to die

I just don't want to live

We were walking across the tracks

We heard the train coming but he wouldn't turn back

Said to him "Man, what's wrong with you?"

He said that he had nothing better to do

Don't know why he died that day

I'll never forget him until the end of my days

I don't want to die, He said.

I don't want to die, I just don't want to live

I don't want to die, they said.

I don't want to die, but I just don't want to live.

We stand in the middle of the cause

This world we've built with all its flaws

We must do what we can to bring about change

Or what love we have left will turn into hate

I don't want to die

She said

I don't want to die

I just don't want to live!

That's hard but it is where so many are at. Thanks for exposing your heart.
