Light in the Dark- Poem

Look into the collage of beautiful color; try to muster up some hope

Alas there is none to be found

Because as you stand there, just trying to cope

Watching the leafs as they shower down

You realize that this is just the beginning of the end

Soon the trees will be bare

Empty branches bowing in the wind

Death slowly creeping into the air

Winter is coming- you softly groan

The air already feels melancholy

Your back bows- the pressure of reality settling into your bones

Those nearby exude emotions that are joyful and jolly

Yet grief blankets your soul

Like snow will soon blanket the grass

Take a breath- maintain control

This pit you’re falling into is dark and vast

Darkness blankets the soul of the lost

Greif decays the spirit of the broken

Those who will pay any cost

To find happiness, be it but a token

Reality murders the innocence of youth

A silent massacre of the proverbial child within

Sheep in the heard they stand aloof

Shutting both eyes to the angst of their fellow man

Kindness is as rare as a gem

A ray of sunshine lighting the way

Even the lost may, on a whim

Notice the light-through their clouds of grey

Soon the lost become found

And the decay fades away

The effect is profound

All because they were shown the way

Lisa, this poem is amazing. You have so many catch phrases. "Reality

murders the innocence of youth, a silent massacre of the ...child within."

An excellent phrase showing the truth of daily living in a world of disappointments.

You have portrayed the heartbreak of a harsh reality where kindness is

a rarity. But, you have given your characters a ray of light showing a

      way out.

Despair gave way to hope. A beautiful ending to an awesome poem.

      YOU GOT TALENT, GIRL!!

      DJ.

This is beautiful Lisa. The poem is dark but the light seeps through. I dislike the drab winters, but i tell myself spring will soon arrive. Cheery thoughts...

Hi, Ruby! I grew up in Florida. so it was warm for like ten months out of the year! Now I live in Tennessee and it is cold for nine moths out of the year! I know that I am lucky, though. Tennessee cold is a lot milder than more northern states! Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I am glad that you enjoyed my poem!

Lisa, a very beautiful poem, sad but also hopeful! yes, the Autumn leaves are falling into death and decay, but soon Winter's snow and ice will give way to Spring and rebirth and what is lost will be found. Excellent work
