Your Retired Guardian Angel.

Updated on February 20, 2013

I slayed dragons

Walked on waters

Went through fires

Not even a single epic

About me

Was sung in a cozy poetical evening meeting

Or written in any scandal sheet

Not even a single medal pinned upon my chest

Or "Thank you" to hear when I had to give back

My uniform and star

For the service to which I devoted my life .

Not a single trophy on the shelf standing

Or"Well done" said to soar my letdown spirits

when I hit a home run,saving thousands

In the street I fought gangs,

Caught road hares

Fed hungers

But never dislodge a beggar.

In home,sweet home,

I never yelled

On kids when TV sound so loud

Or a carpet not being in a place

Nor even on my wife when food burnt in microwave

Or clothes not being well-washed.

I am a veteran

Man of scruples

Your retired Guardian Angel.

This is so true about policemen and we don't thank them enough for putting their lives on the line each day. I love this hub and and forwarding it to my friends who are with the SFPD. Thanks so much for reminding us all.

Bitter sweet poem. It speaks of good old days. I am lucky to live in an area with officers of old. Good work.

Interesting and Touching Poem. There are so many people who are like Angels in disguise, but don't get noticed for it. I believe deep down, that God does reward them....maybe not immediately, but sometime in their life..... and James, you know sometimes the good some people have done, it's their kids that actually reap the benefit. (going deep now lol).

You got me going. Interesting read. :-)
