Limerick - Men in Heels

Updated on December 1, 2012

☆҉‿

I thought "who are these cool guys in the news?"

Walking so confidently in hot, kinky shoes.

They are all from Toronto,

Largest city in Ontario,

Supporting women who face violent abuse.

Wonderful! One of the most interesting aspects of the first photo is that the group of men marching in high heels includes men young and old, as well as men in business suits and others in casual garb. This indicates insight and support for abused women among a broad spectrum of the male gender in Ontario. Their method of showing support is guaranteed to get attention for this topic, which is badly needed.

A couple of the men in the second photo appear to be having a bit of trouble keeping their balance in the unaccustomed footwear! Note the tummy out and leaning-backward posture. I salute them for their willingness to take part in this show of support.

      Excellent hub. Voted Up+++

Well done Lady E.It is very nice and chivalrous of men to walk in high heels supporting women who are victims of men s chauvinism. It is really so sad to see in the street sometimes women with one eye swollen shut, cracked lip, ear like a small catcher’s mitt. Something must be done to protect them.Hotlines are not enough .I think Goverments should TAKE TOUGH MEASURES against domestic violence and the women abusers in general. My mother wasnt safe from that.It was hard for us to see her beaten so hard when we were kids. Now they have been divorced since 2003.

@billybuc Thanks for your support Bill. I'm glad you stopped by. Have a good weekend too.

@JayeWisdom - I like your observation. Now they know what it takes to wear high heels. :-) On a serious note, it's nice to see so many men from different walks of life getting involved. We hope it makes a significant impact. Thanks for voting up.

@James Wolve - Thanks James. Sorry, to hear about your mum. Many women get killed in the process. I'm glad your mum is safe now. Only this week a very famous actor in Nigeria beat his pregnant wife to death. The sad thing about Africa, is that there are no hotlines and if a wife is beaten and the hubby is a rich man, some dim parents, send her back to the man. (for obvious reasons) As you noted, I also hope Govt take tough measures. They are doing their best.

We have had cases in UK where ex-boyfriends stalk girl friends and then assault or kill them. However, a few days ago - Stalking has now been defined as a Criminal Offence in UK. So, that will help reduce some of these issues.

Take care of U and Mum. :-)

Thanks so much. Now in this moment she is bedridden. She has been sick for almost a month. She is old.I need your prayer.

I am glad to hear that your Gov has taken tough measures against it.Classifying stalking as a Criminal Offence is a great courageous step.In Africa unfortunately male is still dominating social and political life.It still needs much work to be done.

Anyway, our hope is on the forthcoming generations to change norms , mentalities and behaviors.

A funny pull leading to a serious topic. Love the posture of the man with his hands in his pocket. Good job! Both you, Lady E and the men in the photo.

Although they look strange in high heels they are some thoughtful men who care about women's safety.

@James Wolve I pray that God restores her health and keeps her strong. Also, that you will be able to do your best for her, to make her happy and comfortable. At this time of our lives, we get so protective over our parents and worry a bit.

It shall be well..... Insha Allah.

Funnnny ! As IMKarn above states so elequently "men need to learn to heel " is she funny or what , One thing about your hubs Lady is that I usually get to hit allll of the buttons , I only pushed" funny ' for those guys ? , as to violence against women , it is perpetrated by only the most cowardly of men ! No excuse whatsoever for it ! I watched this as a child and if a man knew what it did to his wifes inner beauty and to the childs heart and soul .......well there is just no excuse ! Awesome words from our friend ....as usual !....Ed
