Poetry: Living Murder

Updated on May 22, 2014

Living Murder

A child is alone

Crying in the dark

No one can hear her

See the lack of spark

Hollow eyes look back

Reminiscence of her face

Alone in the night

Disheveled, disgraced

Another soul lost

Another one gone

Physically alive

But dead for so long

Breaking the spirit

Of who they once were

To pay for this crime

Is simply absurd

Crushing the playful

Child who once stood

Staring back at a shell

Nothing left that is good

Damaged in such permanence

Thoughts can’t be changed

Life is so different now

Will never be the same

A poem about the many forms of child abuse and the lasting effects they cause. You in a sense kill the person they would have become, thus a living murder.

This is frightening. I don't know what else to say kaiyan717.
