Living and Loving in the Past

Updated on March 19, 2016

Still a handsome gentlemen

with sliver-gray hair

left all alone

now that the angels

came to take her away

and he’d spend his days

in the park

where everywhere he looked

a special memory would make him smile

upon the playground

he saw a little girl

she reminded him of when they met

her golden brown hair

shining in the sun

her mouth smeared with ice cream

she looked like a princess

if ever he was to meet one

and from there on

upon the playground they would meet

content and happy

to share their childhood

joys and tears

side by side their paths through school would lead

and when they were in high school

they were in love and sweethearts

there was a time they separated

when college days

took them separate ways

but always they met

in their own hometown

and so they chose to stay there

to live and to love

but time slips by so quickly

and there was still so much

he wanted to share

but he felt her with him and all around

and the memories delighted him

so his days seemed to flow

one into the other

when they knew he needed care

when this world had faded to him

he was the happiest resident

in the old folk’s home

living in special memories

and only he knew where in his mind he strayed

and she was ever there with him

and so he sat with that dreamy, special smile

knowing that when the angels returned

she would be waiting for him

arms outstretched to embrace him

and welcome him home

Rasma, this is one of your best. I love the story and that the old man doesn't grieve, but rejoices in the memories and looks forward to seeing his own set of angel's wings.

Nice Hub and I loved the video the moment I clicked the button. So touching!

Wings of Love is very esoteric. We use this a lot. So meaningful, like the words dawn or sunrise ... indeed many more. I think I wrote a Hub describing some esoteric words. Excellent; beautiful, meaningful words...
