ICU and hear you...

Mother Nature's best kept secrets.. a mere ...$39.95 | Source

Medical treatments not always covered....

One day you are here the next you are not...

Sometimes you don’t even know what you’ve got...

Sleep comes so easy,as your body breaks down...

And five days later.....you’re in a hospital gown...

You hear voices...and wonder what's going on ?

Questions in your mind..am I still here or gone ..?

You’re all hooked up to machines that are beeping...

Everyone’s talking , they think you’re still sleeping...

Then you wake up and find tubes everywhere..

And bags of fluid..going here and there...

Words like Potassium, Saline and Dextrose...

And a ICU Nurse..stating wow that was close...

That’s when you find that you were pretty much dead...

Before you left your own King size bed...

So here’s where the miracles start to work..

Sometimes through knowledge and sometimes by quirk....

ICU is more than it stands for..

It’s a special place on the third floor..

Where Doctor’s and Nurses work 24-7 trying to bring you back...

But it’s still God who picks up the slack.....

PS: Attempting to work my way back to health, both physical and mentally..lots of cobwebs up there... pretty much sums up 7 days in ICU...

Bless your heart! Glad you are aware of CPC. Works wonders for me so now I am passionate about it. Sometimes "conventional" is needed. Glad you are back to all natural treatments! L.

Linda Compton....Thank you for responding to my poem...Yes I am aware of the " CPC "...and have always believed in use of only natural treatments...no Rx for me...I had no choice in the hospital though.. admitted thru ER....as I had lay for four days without food/water in a bed...lesson learned...my husband is not a very good caregiver...

      Dear KJ,

Whew...in the twinkling of an eye our world can be turned inside out and upside down. Given your professional experience, I am reminded of the passage in Ecclesiastes, "...increased knowledge increases our pain and sorrow..."

You are now in my prayers...

Are you aware of the health benefits of cold-processed chocolate? You might be interested to look at www.mydrchocolate.com I know Dr. Pedersen (he is an ND and Board Certified in Anti-Aging Medicine).

hey - my friend! You know how happy I am that you are on the road to health? Very Very happy. Where would I be without my thoroughly wonderful dose of KJ in all things including the heart, telling it like it is without sugar coating it and speaking the truth! All of these things combine to make one of the best individuals I've had the pleasure of getting to know and I cherish our friendship!

Who would have thought I would find such a common friend through a writing forum!!! Glad I met you and look forward to so many more wonderful laughs with you.

P.S. - Mom and I laughed hysterically when we read your response on the penguin card! I failed miserably at it while she completed it very fast!

Sure, I'd love to join you, what do I need to to? I would also love to know your process--I don't have anyone to help me get through this except my kids and they get tired of hearing it (I would too). Send some of your philosophy my way, please.....

cherylone...half of my " chutzpah " attitude on life and living with the quirks that drop from the sky..or wherever.. comes from being married to my husband..he's always been there to let me know " what makes you think you can do that ?" so I take everything as a challenge..including life..I have health issues which I have been working on for almost 5 years..and am determined to overcome them and reverse them if only 75%..my option is twisted humor...and cracked rose coloured glasses..and I am teaching this " art " to my G-C...by the way I'm taking part in kicking Father Time to the curb this year..care to join me?

You have a great outlook on life. I try, but don't always find the strength. I do like the saying "I'll be back" and hope they will help others including me. Happy New Year, kj.

cherylone..thank you for your thoughts..things are getting better each day..because I never pay attention to the words " can't..shouldn't... won't..couldn't..wouldn't "..

I'm not an advocate of Swartzeager..however..to use his words " I'LL BE BACK "..

have an nice rest of the week..( year )

I know exactly what you mean. I have been to ICU and it is the scariest thing ever especially when you were sleeping in your comfy bed and wake up in a strange place with tubes and bags and beeping machines everywhere. I hope all is much better with you now.

lovedoctor926..It was scary, especially when I knew what was happening...no more visits to hospital..I'm back to the Natural Alternative Herbs, etc.. which I am doing with the help of my ex-colleagues..no drugs....now I must build my stamina back up..it set me back 9 months of 24-7 work..I was just starting to learn to walk again, after 4 years of wheelchairs & walkers.. ( a neurological misdiagnosis) from an auto-immune disorder..I will overcome this and move on..thanks...

lovedoctor926...Thank you for the prayers..the scariest part of the whole ordeal is I knew what was happening and what the consequences could have been..the staff stayed on top of it..the H1N1 was a setback though..as it hit right before I was to be discharged..so I actually came hom feeling sicker than I before I was admitted...

Cobwebs...BE GONE..I'm using my swiffer...best wishes for the Holidays..

Deborah Brooks...Thanks for your well wishes..and I will do what they say, as they are my ex-colleagues...I don't really have a choice ..basically I went into de-hydration, due to lack of interest on my spouse's part..then my kidneys shut down/ and my other organs were't far behind..my hubby has mild dementia, so it wasn't intentional..then in the hospital I caught the H1N1 virus and the rest is history...thanks for your prayers...have a great week..

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I hope that you recouperate in time for the Christmas holidays. ICU can be quite scary. I remember going to the hospital last year to visit someone in that room. His exact words to me were: I'm lucky that I made it. not everyone does. I think he suffered a brain hemorrhage. Anyways, whenever those cob webs come to mind, just visualize a peaceful scenery and hold that thought.

Hope you are soon on the way to good health - sounds truly traumatic as I'm sure it was. I'm such a coward at medical procedures - you are very brave - but then I guess you didn't havera choice. Best wishes for a speedy recovery - sending best wishes...
