Looming Uncertainty

Layers of hot steam beckon,

My damp finger

spells out, can you do it?

Can you risk loss or punishment?

One thought carriage hooks onto another,

raising more questions in one’s mind,

Can you risk above your complacency?

Move beyond all culture you have confined?

Why listen to the trail of your conscience?

Incompleteness and guilt build

Why make your judgements meet your ideals?

Don’t you want the comfort of your baby skin filled?

Imagine a world without rules,

no one cared what your thought or did

Could you hold your ground?

Or, would you need to sit and listen with a lid?

Are you going along,

even though you know it’s wrong?

Are rewards and punishments taken in stride?

Many uncomfortable moments are prolonged.

Slipping backwards with a thud,

Trust yourself

Be courteous but not a limpet

Be a good loser and a good winner held

Trust Yourself

Maybe you won’t find the answer,

There is resolution to your uncertainty

Make others feel wonderful,

Stay vulnerable and open to mysteries, artfully

Stay vulnerable and open to mysteries
Stay vulnerable and open to mysteries | Source

...Have patience with everything that remains unresolved in your heart, live in question...

I dont know about you but I stay open. Therefore, I am continually in a state of uncertainty. Never goes away except for one moment perhaps here and there.

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a fully settled mind. Death?

      I enjoyed this very much.

If you mean time spent in sorting, and sifting our runaway thoughts to come up with something useful? I agree.

Till we breathe, many thoughts and aspirations will keep lingering on in our mind, and this is the beauty of life. True, there is resolution of uncertainty and when it happens there arises a great joy. I love this poem Charmaine , it tells me keep going. A beautiful work, my friend.

Man this was a wonderful poem. I love the first illustration as well. We must always be prepared for change and welcome it with an open mind. Great work.

Love the last stanza. Good advice to stay open to mysteries and to know that there is always a resolution coming. We just don't know when.
