Lost, a poem by me

Lost

I am born of darkness, my soul stalks the night. I find no comfort in shadows, and in anguish I pursue the light.

The years have been unkind, bringing hurt and despair. I find no absolution in the scars I’ve had to bare.

The dead cannot walk, so many times I was told, then how can one survive from a lost and broken soul?

Follow your dreams they would say to me, but mine are forever broken, and from their memory I must flee.

In a garden of poison lies I was overtaken by confusion, and now it seems that the truth is only a distant illusion.

My heart has been frozen, feeling only pain. My eyes never see sunshine, only cold bitter rain.

Can I be rescued? Is redemption calling to me? From the chains of darkness can the lost ever be free?

Strong poem. I like it a lot. Nice to see another Hubber who hails from Georgia. We have some very good poets here; I recommend Audrey Howitt, Sueswan, Kathleen Cochran, Frank Atanacio, and lilifly. There are a number of other good poets on HP, but I am particularly drawn to their work. Welome to HubPages.
