Louder For Vengeance

Updated on November 11, 2014

It wasn’t really what he saw,

but more what he felt,

he screamed his throat raw,

as his calmness would just melt,

the fear ran through him like ice,

he saw her walk by

and he knew he killed her twice,

she was a shadow

in the darkness

heading toward his car,

the night was oddly bright,

and her profile was briefly

illuminated by the street light,

along the vacant street,

she walked quietly,

and there were no shoes

on her feet,

in death,

he thought he stole her breath,

but her life feared him

greater than tragedy,

her deaths were lies,

and the fear was clear,

it was a fear that cries

louder for vengeance,

as the stars filled the skies,

and once again,

he was staring into her empty eyes.

I know this feeling all too well "...he screamed his throat raw..." excellently frightening poem Frank, it would make an interesting short story.

Sad. I love the image "no shoes on her feet". And "fear ran through him like ice". I know that feeling.
