Love Was Lost and Then Found

Updated on May 13, 2016

Time seemed to stand still,

the days all rolled into one,

since the day that love had flown -

it was only sadness she had known.

Her eyes seemed to rain tears

most every day.

Her dreams full of memories,

that she couldn’t

get out of her mind.

Food seemed bland

and wine had turned sour.

It was a chore,

to get up in the morning

and she felt afraid

when the nighttime came.

Stumbling along,

she felt like a puppet on a string,

doing what she had to do.

Dark clouds rolled overhead,

smiles had been left far behind,

laughter something unknown

but she existed

and life had to go on.

When finally it all seemed,

like a losing battle,

she caught someone’s eye.

His brilliant smile,

his outstretched hand,

made the sun come out once more.

Her broken heart

could mend again.

although it would be wary.

Until it knew -

that this time,

love was true.

True love was just around the corner for her. Hopefully, the same is true for all of us.

Renewed love, beautiful! I saw the Monkees in Houston in the early 80's.
