Love no more...

Shaloo Walia is an astrologer and tarot reader. She is an Art of Living teacher and also an ardent Krishna devotee and a follower of ISKCON.

Hiding behind the facade of strength
Around my vulnerable heart, I create a fence.
Smiling under the pretence of moving on
Yet my bleeding heart is now not my own.
Romantic notions of love pure and innocent
Little did I know, to you lust was all that meant.
My Prince charming, my knight in shining armour
Ruthlessly you left after trampling my honour.
I gave you my all- my heart and my soul
I had no doubt that love will conquer all.
For being gullible, I have paid a price
This hurt, this pain should be no surprise.
I worshipped you thinking you were my soulmate
Betrayal and deceit have now become my fate.
You took away my peace, my life has gone for a toss
Losing faith in love has been my greatest loss.

Falling in love is like holding a candle. Initially it lightens up the world around you. Then it starts melting and hurt you. Finally it goes off and everything is darker than ever and all you are left with is the.. BURN

Well this is a darker view of love than I consider but it is interesting and probably true for some misfortunate ones.

The burn, ah ! Yes, that sweet effulgent burn that scorch the Soul and sends it on fire with the Love of God ...but you speak of another kind of burn, yes? chuckle...a big one, deceit, and very real ... Great poem.

Thank you Manatita! Another kind of burn but it led me to the love of God. So I am grateful for this burn too!

Yea, love hurts or burns, whatever. Yet, we can't stop loving. Usually in the loss there is some gain, if we will notice.

Well, I definitely relate to this one. I know these emotions and feelings too well. It seems our similarities with life continues. :)

Take care, Shaloo, and God Bless. ~Missy

@Dora We can't stop loving because we are made up of love. But sometimes a bitter experience in love closes one's heart to love forever.

Shaloo, read my poem 'friend who left'. It is having an answer to it.

Such a sad story of betrayal. There are so many who feel the same. Persist and be strong.

@FlourishAnyway Love is not always reciprocated. But life goes on inspite of the heartaches and betrayals.

As the old saying goes, it is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all. After all, if one doesn't know how to love, then it doesn't exist on that plane. As always, you did this so well.

I agree Deb. Being in love is a beautiful experience. It doesn't always have a fairy tale ending but then every experience teaches you something.
