Love on The Rocks A Double Feature

Updated on May 29, 2013

More Than What Meets The Eye

When our life was going perfectly

Then a quick turn and all of a sudden

Disaster happens

Do we believe what other people think

Love for life is too good to be true

Life isn't perfect how could love be

Now you let doubt fill your mind

You can't think straight

Nothing you have together is ever the same

Both heated and frustrated

Saying things just to be mean

You pull apart instead of together

Fighting instead of making up

Friction creates more problems

Your life is now changed forever

Only time will tell you if you get back together

It takes two people to work at it

To often time passes and your love becomes water under the bridge

Rippling through the rocks watched from such a lonely spot

Only to vanish and never to reappear

That is quite clear

Best to say goodbye

How could something so beautiful take a turn for the worst

Some say it's not love but a curse

I have to be honest

I take a different point of view

I love

Love on the rocks

I love it so much I can't control myself anymore

We usually go to a quiet place

Sometimes at the end of the beach

We slip away

A place where we can yell, joke, pamper each other and cry

Spending precious moments together

For years the water has been pounding the shores

Making everything rough so smooth

We both find time to kiss and play

Like two school kids playing hookey for the day

Laughing at each others every move

Life around us has changed

It has circled in

The world has its problems and we are no different

What we have found is a way

To tune it out for the day

When we are together we have found the heat of passion

A beauty that can't be undone

We have reached to the core of every human being

To our basic nature

All that can be seen and unseen

As we change the tide

Climbing on each slippery rock with jacked edges

Holding each others hand tightly

We walk across on the sharp points

Sitting on the rough barnicles and dark green peat moss

Looking at all the rocks in all different sizes a lot like people

We are never perfect and are always changing

Smelling the ocean salty air

Then we see a crab under some seaweed

Making its way to safetly under a small rock

You may never know what you may find

Staring out of the sand

Something that has been left for years and long forgotten

A piece of driftwood lighter than a feather

The best thing I love

Is spending time with my wife

The one I love the most

Gypsy Rose Lee Each day we spend together is one more time I can say we made it work. Some times funny most of the time good to great. The bad times have come and have been thrown away with the trash hopefully to be put to good use and burned to ash.I love that you passed this a long thanx for being a nice friend.

Katheryn Stratford Taking the tough times and making them better.Taking the great times and doing them again and again. Both jumbled together like laundry in a basket to be folded and put away to be used another day.Your the first person from Boston I have seen in three years.Thanx for reading and I leave you with sweet memories Cheers.Dim Flaxenwick There is so much love to go around it's a shame to let it go to waste.Every time I see you my candles go dim and then they sparkle with a light so bright.I know instantly I am in for a wonderful night.Thanx for reading and sharing my stories /poems.I like to call them stoems.

This is an amazing outpouring of true love in a very imperfect world.

So sorry I haven't been around much lately.

Now this poem makes "love on the rocks" sound like a perfectly fine thing, since rocks on the beach become smooth after time.

No one's life is perfect, and it is refreshing when couples learn to just roll with the punches, and not only stay together, but have fun together.

kidscrafts Good times or bad I tell my wife she is stuck with me for the next 300 years. After that we can go our own ways and find a new love or life or if we choose continue what we have been practicing for so long trying to make it right. That takes the edge off any fight.Spending time near the ocean brings us back to what is so important.Life and love and all it's beauty. So wonderful to read your comment and the best times are saved for last being totally alone and ...... Gives the end of a day great meaning.Have a beautiful night.

I love your version of the kissing and making up fight. There is something to be said about the love making that is so specially delicious after a big fight. Your poem brought back such fond memories of my yester- years. Of course you and your love went to a quiet place on the beach where you could be totally alone and.......

Love is precious and yes with time we all change but I think the secret is acknowledge that we change. As a couple, we can change together and adapt to change. It's important to speak, laugh, take time ... together to keep love alive.

      Lovely poem, Dream-On :-)
