Lover’s Brook (poem)

Updated on March 17, 2017

Do you recall the days when we first met

I courted you precisely by a book

A real live fantasy that few forget

You entertained beside a lover’s brook

A brook that fashions music for your ear

Reflects enchanted joys we have to share

The beauty in my eyes the brook makes clear

Look deep enough you’ll find more wonders there

Where is this brook of love for us today

Not hidden in some closet’s sacred vault

Mistaken resting place where loves decay

With time to stagnate to a pile of salt

Our lover’s brook flows gaily when we smile

It sweetly serenades us to our rest

It clears the glades stray trouble dares defile

It sparkles when our love flows at its best

Music only

Martin, this is a lovely poem. Every line holds a wealth of meaning written by a master. Well done. Thank you.
