Love’s Passion

Updated on January 10, 2014

He’d been burnt twice

Left with love’s embers

Still smoldering

And an ache in his heart

That just would not go away

Twice burnt

He no longer believed

That there was a love

That would stay

So he chose to play

The ladies were all willing

Some wanted to posses

But he preferred one night stands

The kind where passion flared

Where the fires burned

And he felt completely spent

There was a lady

Who might have once held

The key to his heart

But that was so long ago

And he made sure

She knew the name of the game

They came together

Like a flash fire

Like a funeral pyre

And he felt like he’d died

As he lay spent

In the early morning light

Oh, he knew

That the embers still smoldered

But he watched as the beauty beside him

Slept with a smile on her ruby red lips

And he knew he had to smolder the fire

So he crept away before it all began again

He knew she’d cry

Knew she’d wonder why

But he had told her no ties

And so there was no guilt, no regret

For awhile he let the flames of love

Just cool

While he tried to pull it together

The ladies tried

So very hard

But there was a lock and chain

On his heart

And then he looked into her eyes

Deep in there he saw

A passion that equaled his own

Fires that burned unsated

They came together

Just for fun and play

This time when the flames of love

Had been quenched

The beauty with the flaming red hair

And smoldering green eyes

Left him behind as the sun

Rose in the sky

He shrugged it off

Like so often he’d done

But she’d left a thorn

Behind in his heart

And it was slowly

Renewing the longing for true love

Suddenly he’d run up

Against a brick wall

He no longer wanted to play

He set out to find her

Wondering if she felt the same

While he was searching

She was searching

And when they came together

They knew that they had found

What they thought was over for good

A true love that would never end

Always and forever

The flames of love would burn

      Morning to you in Riga.

You know how I am with poetry, but this hub was more like a story to me. The good things in life aren't free, you have to give something back in return. In this case you he to give a little bit of TIME back. All good things are worth waiting for.

Have a nice weekend and keep warm.

What a poignant story which might have gone either way! That makes the happy ending all the sweeter. If we've ever 'passed up' a love that could have been, perhaps had a follow-up chance which may have ended like this one or at least have become a deep and abiding friendship, we can truly empathize with this couple of lovers. Very well done, Rasma!

I like your choice of music, too! It fits so well!

Voting up and across! It really measures up to those praises!

Beautiful story. I can relate. Once bitten, twice shy, but when you meet the right one, you will always give love another chance...

Once you are burned, it takes a lot of trust to get close again. Great work, Rasma.

I completely agree that all good things are worth waiting for Ghaelach. We have reached an incredible -7 degrees tonight and it's just getting colder. Keep warm.

Happy endings are always the best Blossom.

      So very true Martie. Hugs.

      Glad you enjoyed this Ruby.

Always harder to trust the second time round Wayne.

You welcome Jamie. Glad this came in time. Hugs.

Gypsy, love hurts, but it can also heal. Another gem from a talented poet. My best to you.

Nicely told dear poet, its not the easiest for many to try over again, I agree with Wayne's comment, hard to trust again. I know how difficult that is, I've been single now going on 4 years now and don't hold any hope in me finding love again, if it finds me so be it, there may be a third chance. I wonder how many people suffer alone without love in their lives?
