Impending heartache .... dog verse

Updated on March 10, 2015

We will have to part it seems
where have these short years gone my love
and yet who knows
who might really go first

I don't know why but
I never loved a dog like this one
this is so different though
this is my Bud

When his eye's meet mine
I watch so many memories reflected
there
As a pup his were the bluest
Those eye's only a puppy
can have

Now golden and as deep as
the north sea waters of Labrador
in mid autumn
they know things only we
have seen together

We walked at times alone
no words
no thoughts
nothing but the path ahead
and the road
behind

If there truly is a God
I will ask nothing and perhaps
he will already know
These two belong together
this man
and this dog
both of us waiting
at his feet

Great poem to a beloved pet Ed. I can certainly relate..love my dogs. Maybe there is a reason that "God" is "Dog" spelt backwards. Voted up.

Ed that wasn't fair to pluck so at the heartstrings. Now you got me blubbering. I send Bud many doggy hugs and my Sid sends him a sincere meow. Like your Bud for you Sid also inspires me. Hugs. Passing this on.
