Hello Sunshine!

"Hello Darling...I'm home!!! Where are you? I was wondering if.....OH!!! There you are!!!" She was so happy to see him but caught her reflection of herself in the mirror and immediately fixed her hair that she spends many hours a day on. He stood there in silence as he adjusted his silk tie in the mirror while she drifted off into "maintenance mode." Robert was in a rush and did not want to wrinkle his Armani suit... "Stella I do not have any time for this, I have an important meeting! Can we talk about this later?" She rolled her eyes and continued. "Well screw you Robert, this is really important. Can you please just hear me out?!" Robert waited for a brief moment before he gathered his iphone, ipad, Macbook Pro, Bentley keys and fine brief case with ipod pocket in elephant skin lining. As he rushed to the door he turned around and gave Stella her MOMENT. "Well go on....what is it?"

Stella looked at him with a huge grin and decided to yell her good news! "Oh Robert, I got a raise and a brand new office with the studio next to the President! Next thing you know I will have my own show too!" After she said it she walked towards him to give him a hug and when she got there, he backed up. "Be careful for the suit, I have a few power meetings today." Stella looked at him for a moment and then answered her cell phone that had been ringing "off the hook" for a while. When Robert had his chance, he was out the door. She thought to herself as she watched him strut to his brand new Bentley...."Ahhhh LOVE" and then called her assistant at the office.

Both of their days were like any other days. Both went to work and had high profile jobs, both had lunches with various people and business associates that would listen to them talk about themselves. "Cheaper then therapy they thought." Robert was the top partner at his firm and he was the highest paid executive in his field. Everyone loved him as much as he loved himself and they always "let him know" over and over again. Which made it easier for him to never see any of his faults and do whatever they asked of him. Afterall the more you told him how GREAT he was, the harder he would work to prove it. Stella was good at this too and had plenty of fans, I mean "friends" who often came to her to listen to her dramatic stories that cativated people with totally boring and very normal lives. The sort of people that never thought they were "good enough" or ever "had enough." They were the easiest prey for this SUPER power couple.

Stella and Robert's lives were "picture perfect" and they were happy without children or family. Afterall they had eachother and plenty of people to distract them from "real life." This is why they were successful and "in love" with themselves every single day. They loved eachother also and they believed that they were very "special, dynamic and entitled." Their future together was painted in the "stars" that shined in all of the crystal in their very expensive dining set.

They were a match made in heaven!

Date Night!

"Honey, it's me. It looks like I will be running a bit later then usual. I got a bit "tied up" on the phone at the office, but I bought a whole new outfit for you later. You know......after dinner treat. Silence. Hello? Robert are you there?" There was another minute or two and Stella waited very patiently. "Yes Stella, that sounds good...did you read the article about me today in the Times? Everyone is talking about me, I mean IT." Stella was a bit quiet and she was steaming with envy. Robert always beat her in everything. Now her big promotion seemed like just one tiny pea on a plate full of cashew salad. She decided to speak. "Well Robert, I'm feeling a bit ill tonight so maybe we can go out tomorrow then." Robert was ruffling paperwork on his desk and continued to grunt as he could not believe that Stella was ill on his VERY special day! HOW DARE SHE HE THOUGHT. He could think of so many people that would be grateful for his presence! SO many leeches, I mean "good friends" that would drop everything in a minute to meet him at one of LA's finest restaurants. He tried to sound "delightful and exciting" because he needed her there tonight. Afterall she always made him "look good" and his other partner in the firm loved Stella. How would he explain this one? Robert thought about a way to make Stella show up. He always got his way or else. "Darling, you know how much this means to me tonight. Everyone will be there and they all want to see you. They talk about you all the time." Stella cheered up a bit. "Really Robert? They do? I did not know that?" He continued his excellent "play." "Well Ava at the office even mentioned your taste in fashion the other day and how she wanted to have her hair cut exactly like yours." Stella stayed silent for a minute. "Well I guess it wouldn't hurt if we stayed for a little while....I will see you at our usual place darling. Ta ta for now."

Wonderfully done! Perspective is needed in today's world. Yes, the Armani suit might wrinkle -imagine that! The world we live in is not real and television has perpetuated our materialist obsessions. Thank you for exposing us and the narcissist that exists in all of us. The fight is worth it to stay real.

Hey Ausseye....just saw you here! As my father used to say "To each his own." I prefer having my feet solid on the ground. Fancy things are nice when they are built on solid ground. I like "real" better. ; Always nice seeing you here! G

Alastar! So glad you liked this! Funny that you read it for a few "narcissists!" The funny part is that most narcissists would deny that they are! ha ha.....No extreme case would ever admit to it anyway....Yes, LA is like this.....especially in the entertainment business. BUT it can be anywhere!!! Even without the fancy cars!!! I know quite a few that do not own a lot but spend a fortune on how they look. All of their focus is on how they look and who they are bringing into their manipulative web! Some are VERY good at fooling people....I know some of the BEST of them.....Well, not anymore.....I RAN!!! ha ha

Anyway, always nice to see you here.....Best, G

viryabo!!! How are you? Well a lot of changes going on but all good! After looking into behavioral patterns of people I have known for quite a while (male and female), I was able to take off the "rose colored" glasses and really see "who they are." Everyone loves a narcissist until they make the inevitable mistake. They eventually show their "true colors." It may take months or years.....the sad part is the "years" part.....I'm hoping that this article saves someone from the clutches of someone like this.....Hope you are well too and so happy to see you here! G

Phoebe....He sounds like an extreme case!!! It is amazing what they will do for attention.....they will always take advantage of the "innocent" or the kind.....thanks for stopping in! GPAGE

pamela....glad you enjoyed it.....going to your link right now....I have met and have known quite a few extreme cases.....SO I took two people I know and "used" to hang with and pretended they were "married." The funniest thing is that one of them used to call the other a NARCISSIST! And the traits in this person were so obvious over took a while to see through the "act"....luckily I can see them a mile away now......Best, G

Ha! What an ending G! Stella wasn't going to go till Robert made it about her! Is that how L.A. really is, cause with a subtraction of the Armani suits and Bentleys it could go for around here too. G I read this aloud to some narcissist friends that are over and they thought it was great! I'm not particuarly self-centered but think your stories even greater.

Fabulously written G, but then you are really good at getting a message across by the way you write beautifully.

Thoroughly enjoyed it my friend. How have you been?

That was really funny. It actually reminds me of my exboyfriend. He was so obsessed with what people thought, that he would change his outfit three times a day.

This is a very interesting hub as instead of just listing symptoms of narcissism you wrote out a perfect dialog. It is excellent.

If you haven't voted in the Tug of War contest yet, I would appreciate your vote if you think my hub is worthy. The new link is:
