Mabon, a poem

Updated on September 23, 2015

Pagan Poetry is a specialty of mine - I have a website called TheGypsyThread with more of my work.

The autumn equinox

Scales of night and day

At a balancing point

Chilly night breezes

Whip across barren fields

The rush to finish harvest

And prepare

Colorful leaves reveal

The changing of seasons

Time marches on unfettered

Pagans celebrate

Ancient ways and ancient rites

Mabon

The time of balance

Thankful for the abundance

Honoring the goddess

Reflections, assessments, feasting

Death of nature

Only for a while

Life continues in spring

Thanks Brian - Unless you are Wiccan or Pagan, most people would be in the same boat as you.

I like your style very much. Your short lines are thoughtful, emotional and filled with images. I had to Google "Mabon" so thanks for teaching me a new word!

Lovely poem and wonderful explanation of this Sabbat.

As one new to this path, I am always interested in learning more.
