Make Me a Mirror

Updated on March 3, 2011

Make Me a Mirror

I can easily see Your Presence

In a flaming sunset sky.

I can clearly see Your Essence

In a fragile butterfly.

I can sense the Wonder of You

In a rainbow midst the clouds.

I can sometimes even feel You

In unknown faces in the crowds.

I can feel You all about me

In the birds and in the trees.

I can hear Your Voice speak to me

In the whisper of the breeze.

I can see Your Love reflected

In the friends that grace my life.

Occasionally, I recognize you

Even carrying me through strife.

There's only just one place

Where i most often fail to see

Your Wonder and Your Goodness, Lord,

That's when I look inside of me.

It's as if my eyes are broken

That I cannot recognize

Your ever sweet reflection in

The mirror of my eyes.

Remove the darkened shadows, Lord,

That I might see Your Face

When i look into the mirror

For the reflection of Your Grace.

Again, thank you, Karen. Sometimes, I think the words that come through my pen are messages to me for me. It is an honor to share them, and to have others relate! God bless you, too!

Sounds to me though like you are learning to overcome and coming to realize who you really are. The more you let that light out, the more the darkness will dissolve.

And pleaseeee, I absolutely cannot write a poem to save my life lol. It's a talent you have and I enjoy reading them :D

I can only speak for myself, fenzero, but how I perceive myself was developed by a violent, sick alcoholic, and a very co-dependent mother. I learned about self-loathing very young. My live has been a long journey of unlearning and learning that will end only when I leave this world and transcend into the next...Bun now-a-days, I get glimpses of the truth about who I am...and dont live in self-loathing , just visit there periodically! That is a huge relief!!! smile...Your comments mean alot to me, especially from such a talent!

Why is it that we can see it so clearly in those around us but, at times, have such a struggle seeing it within ourselves? Have you ever gone back to read your own words and wonder where they came from? There's your answer.

      I enjoyed this :)
