Make Money Grow|How To Make Money As A Freelance Writer
Like a business owner who works for himself, a freelance writer is someone who also works for himself. He sets his goals and set time periods to achieve those goals. The beauty of freelance writing is that you don’t have to answer to someone. How much effort you put into your writing will be reflected by your income. Freelance writing isn’t easy as many expect. You have to be smart and meticulous in your cyber doings. It is not just writing and publishing. You have to critically analyze quality of your writing and find out which ones bring you more traffic and subsequently income and stick to it.
Knowing your self
A freelance writer knows where his interests are, what area of knowledge and skills he has. No one will tell you this. You have to search within yourself to find answers to these questions. Do you love travelling? Do your love photography? Oh cooking? Are you good at writing children books or review of products or services? These are the kind of questions you ask yourself. There is an old adage that goes like
“What you love most, you will do it the best”
Take for instance, photography. If you love taking photos, than writing about everything that has to do with photography can make you an authority in that particular niche or topic. Photography isn’t only about photos. It is about photos, how to take it, when to take it, what kind of equipments needed to take that photo, and awful lot of things one has to know about photography. Ok. This example should make you start thinking about what you are good at and love doing it.
Write on a specific topic or Niche
Writing on a particular topic or niche is a good way to tell Google that you have in-depth knowledge on that particular niche. Google can rank you higher in its page ranks and this will bring in organic traffic. Again, let me emphasize this; nothing is worse than producing an article full of promotional messages and nothing for useful the readers who visit your site. Readers are the people that bring money into your wallet. If you don’t give what they want, do you expect them to come back?
Write for other sites
Like we do it here in Hub Pages. There are countless sites out there you can join as a freelance lance writer and writer for income. Much of you income will be determined by the traffic you generate from your articles. The income will be share so be aware of that. Good thing about sites like Hub Pages and others is that search engines rank their articles higher in their page ranks. So if you produce high quality and relevant articles, your articles can be ranked higher and you have good chance of making good income as a freelance writer.
Direct contact of website and blog owners
Freelance writer know how much there writing is worth. They don’t want any middleman to be involved so as to share their earnings. Instead they directly contact website and blog owners. You see, the person who writes about photography might have so many things to write about and might not have enough time to do so. There is where you come into the scene as a freelance writer. Let’s say you know the best equipments one can use to take high quality pictures. So you contact the site owner and strike a deal. If your terms and conditions agrees with that of the site owner, bingo. You produce him the article, he pays you up front.
The web is saturated with writing forums and groups. This is the right place to connect with your potential clients. Join these groups and actively participate. Be sure not to be a spectator. Active participation means actively engaging with other members of the forum and professionally discussing issues brought upon by other members. This will earn you good credibility and potential clients. If you are type of person who only shares URL links and run away from discussions, don’t be surprised if you are removed from the forum. Many writing forums are professional sites and the site owners hate spam.
