Can you see the pride and happiness in my face?

Yes I know, you are not looking at my face right now, but believe me, it is shining with happiness.

Why?

Well, a book I wrote and published has now been published in the audio version. It was a long and drawn out process, but well worth it. I worked with an accomplished actor who also performs audio formatted works. He has a plethora of acting jobs in his portfolio including parts in Boardwalk Empire, Jim, and Shooting Script.

Maxwell Zener is the Narrator

Listen to the sample of the audio book in the video below.

After that, I will explain the process you can take to have your book in audio format.

Go Audio!

Once you have a book published, just go to acx.com.

ACX is an Amazon owned company. Once you have a book published in audio format, ACX releases it to Audible, iTunes, and Amazon. The process is somewhat difficult. I attempted recording my own book, but I have a frog in my throat as you can tell by my name. I decided I should find someone to narrate. You can go about this in essentially 2 different ways; you can offer to pay an upfront fee, or you can offer royalty share.

I had several auditions for this book and I chose Maxwell from the batch. His voice and demeanor fit exactly what I was seeking for this book.

Methodically, Maxwell recorded each chapter. In doing so, he set up a Google Docs program where I would then listen to each recording and would explain edits needed. There were many Spanish types of names, and I would have to explain pronunciations, and Max learned quickly.

All in all, the book took approximately 2 months to complete.

What ACX Offers

ACX is a great company to work with and through in creating an audio book. They offer many tips and tricks to properly record your book.

ACX also has a special "Bounty" program whereas an audio book owner, if a person signs up as an Audible Member and your book is their first purchase, the author and narrator if on a royalty share program split $50. If you as the author paid to have it narrated, you receive the complete $50.

ACX is also stringent on having top quality audio books. They listen very closely to the recordings to make sure background noise is at a minimum. The quality must be at a recording studio quality.

With Puertorriqueños Who Served With Guts, Glory and Honor, I also had many color pictures within the book that Maxwell referred to while narrating. Working with ACX, I was able to create a special PDF of the pictures that is also provided to anyone who purchases the audio book.

The company is very professional, and with a book of this type, I know there are many who have a difficult time seeing a normal book. They now have the ability to read this book through their ears instead of their eyes.

Do You Have A Published Book?

Open your market by having your book audio.

It is a wise move. Personally, I have our books in every format possible, because there are many people with different reading avenues.

I highly recommend ACX to get your book in audio format.

As time goes on, I plan on getting all of our books into audio format.
