"So, you are the latest addition to the stud!" His eyes denigrated her shrinking figure. "I might have guessed El Conde's mind would run upon the lines of a milk-and-water miss, spirited as a mouse and sexless as a plaster madonna!"

Serena gasped at the onslaught. "Who are you?" she quavered. "How dare you burst into my room without so much as a-"

Morva's parents did not marry until after the death of her older brother, so he is not the heir and the entire estate is entailed and goes to Troy.

BOOK EXCERPT

"We made a bargain."Morva swallowed hard. "I was not speaking lightly when I agreed to marry you."

"Ah, now I get the picture. The virgin bride is willing to endure the ultimate sacrifice." Troy looked completely goaded. "No thank you," he declined contemptuously. "You are welcome to my bed,but not to me!"

"Why.....?" Morva's throat ached with mortified tears.

"Until you revise your quaint notion that it's acceptable to be bred solely to provide for your layabout family, I'll sleep next door." He swung around to glare at her. "I swear--you'll remain a virgin wife until the day you concede the past is a bucket of ashes!"
