"Maria" by Eric Wayne Flynn

Updated on April 12, 2014

A regular

A whore

A regular whore

Wishing I would grab her luggage and open her door

I asked if she needed any help

She just assumed I'd do it

Chivalry is dead

You damn women seen to it

Wanting cake

Eating it too

Then complaining about your fat ass

Get up off it and get your own bags

Hey baby

We all dance for dollars

I just don't have to show my shit

You made your decision, deal with it

Sorry if that gets you down

But Burger King is always hiring

You too good to wear the crown?

N live in a cool water flat with rats as big as your ego

Built up as a lil girl, told you were a princess

Growing up to find you ain't nothing but a troll

On a bridge ready to jump

A short Brazilian goblin

An ugly soul in clear heeled pumps

Picking fights with the wittiest of minds

On a corner with her bags on the side of the road you will find

The patron saint of bullshit

Telling everyone how much respect she is owed

A broke down bitch with an ass in need of a tow

It's not all her fault, maybe she does have a point

I could of just got out of the car and put the bags in the car

But too many times I've had my hand slapped

No I can do it!

Why would women want the burden of being a man?

Do what you wanna do, but be what you are

If it were me I woulda never left the kitchen

And I would've used the glass ceiling to magnify the sun, so I could lay out and get a tan

Now that y'all women got a taste, what's it like to be a man?

Struggling, working 9-5

To stay alive, as your insides dry up

Shriveled flowers

Miss independent, missing the point

Wanting it all

Equal pay
Equal status
Equal this
Equal that

Women and men aren't equal, we are far from it

Celebrate our differences

I love to visit Venus but I reside on Mars

I'll start opening doors, when you start buying drinks at bars

Gender roles are too blurry and everyone wants to be omnipotent and in control, people need to let go, both sides. Thanks Jamie

Modern relationships are almost to complicated. No wonder there is so much alienation in our world today. Jamie

I agree totally. I am happy to take the chivalry road and it seems it is still appreciated, but the push for equality makes life difficult and complicated. I prefer defined roles for man and woman. I think you'll find these are the reason women have always lived longer. Now it is expected for them to work the 9 to 5 grind and compete to be equal to men, stress about providing for the family etc you will find the mortality gap begin to lessen. As you say there is still seems to be a desire to "have your cake and eat it too" syndrome. Good poem. Voted up.
