This must be a bad week for US President Donald Trump. First, there was this US Supreme Court judgment which he didn't like and then his former Secretary of State John Bolton has just published his book "The room where it all happened."This book gives a salacious account of the goings-on in the White House when John Bolton was the secretary of state. The book is highly critical of Trump and I will review it in a subsequent article. To add to the woes of the president his niece the daughter of his elder brother Mary Trump's book about her uncle is due to be released on 28 July.

All these years since Trump was president the press and the public had not heard much about Mary Trump who has kept a low profile. But probably the old saying enough is enough has goaded her to write a book about the type of man her uncle is.

Mary Trump is the daughter of Trump's elder brother Fred Trump Junior who died in 1981 at the age of 42 from a heart attack due to alcoholism. The book titled "Too much and never enough: How my family created the world's most dangerous man"has ignited the world of literature and raised the temperature in a year when the presidential election is due.

The book is due to be published on July 28 and runs into 240 pages. Mary is the niece of Donald Trump and the oldest grandchild FredTrump sr.

Many readers will ask as to who is Mary Trump? She is a psychologist who has stayed out of the limelight until now. Her mother is Linda Clap who was a flight attendant when she met the father of Mary when he was trying to be a pilot. Fred Trump Jr. and Linda married in 1962 and had two children. The couple's marriage was short-lived and they divorced in 1970. One of the reasons for the divorce was perhaps the alcoholism of Fred Trump Jr.

Another spicy fact is that when Fred Trump senior died in 1999, his will was contested by Mary and her brother on the plea that they had received a much smaller inheritance compared to others of the family. The inheritance issue was perhaps settled in 2000 in a private settlement and at the time Trump had said that it all worked out very well

The book

The book will be released on July 28 and already it has caught the imagination of not only people in America but all over the world. All said and done Trump is somewhat like a maverick president and in most of his actions he has been unpredictable. His tenure has also seen the slide of American prestige all over the world because of his somewhat whimsical policies.

People all over the world including me are anxiously waiting for the release of the book.No doubt the book should fill the coffers of Mary. The publisher of the book says that Mary who is a trained psychologist has described a nightmare of trauma and destructive relationships in the family. Until one reads a book one has to rely on what little information is being given by the publisher.

The publisher is Simon Schuster. He has said that Mary will explain how her uncle became the man who now threatens the world's health, economic, security, and social fabric. In all likelihood, the book is going to paint Donald Trump in a bad light. It will bring out the inner workings of one of the world's most powerful and dysfunctional families.

As per the Publisher, Mary will bring out what all traumas she faced and also explain the destructive nature of Donald Trump and his policy of neglect and abuse.

The release of John Bolton's book and now Mary's book appears to be like a nail in the campaign of Donald Trump. Considering that the President is already trailing in popular ratings behind Joe Biden, the release of this book may further widen the gap between the two.

My verdict

We have seen before that Trump always comes out fighting and does not accept things easily. It has now been reported that Trump is considering an attempt to stop the book from being published. We will have to wait and see how successful we will be in this endeavor.

The title of the book itself is enough to raise the hackles of Donald Trump. His description as the world's 'most dangerous man' is not going to be liked by him. It is worth pointing out that Mary Trump was the source for The New York Times Pulitzer prize-winning coverage of the family's tax affairs.

With the publication of this book, the gloves are off the claws that have ruled the family. It has been brought out now that she had in 2000 given an interview to the New York daily news in which she had said that her aunt and uncle should be ashamed of themselves because of the way they had treated one of the nephews who had cerebral palsy.

I understand it will be a no holds barred book and definitely it will give an insight into the character of Donald Trump. The American press and public know him as a man who bluffs and lies a lot. I remember reading during the 2016 election an article on the Huffington Post that had mentioned that Donald Trump was a congenital liar. I took this with a pinch of salt as it was part of the election campaign.

A book on Melania Trump the wife of the President is also to be published. All three books paint the president in a negative light. We will have to see what effect these books have on the American public and whether it will be translated into votes polled in the coming presidential election.
