Masks of a Leader

Updated on November 23, 2011

Did you pleased everyone?

Did you served the people right?

You have many coverups,

I cannot fathom which is right.

People clamor with your rhetoric,

the media cannot dig on your past

I was personally barred from questioning

when I was still an active member of the press.

A series of events turned against you,

but you still paste a winsome smile on your face.

Amid the people's cry for you to step down,

as if you don't want to vacate that coveted seat.

After nine years of usurping people's money,

you still plead innocence on the cases thrown at you.

And yet, the new leader wants to nail you down,

people seek for transparency, no matter what.

It is just a repetition of the past?

as leaders of this country may either be impeached

or charged with plunder, or thick volumes of

graft and corruption cases?

The PUBLIC Knowing Eyes (Art and Photo by Travel Man, Nov. 21, 2011)

You are all over the news,

with all that annoying neck brace you are sporting,

just to show that you are sick from neck to foot,

or just from neck to your head.

Electoral fraud, that's the major case you are in,

people are still waiting for the plunder case you should reap.

Your family are still proud of what you've achieved,

a fallen leader of shame and prejudices.

The effects of your case vary from among the rich and the poor.

The poor continue to dig food at the garbage dump sites,

they have little attention regarding this scandal.

Who cares, anyway? Will it help them feel better?

The rich continue to lord and rule the country,

Businessmen continue to amass money from their workers.

What else is new? If you are to be jailed,

will it make us better people?

Pity seems out of context in your part.

Where are your cohorts now?

Are they hiding their tales to evade punishment?

Or just to shy to admit defeat?

Nailing down an Ex-President

The hottest news to date (November 22, 2011) is the warrant of arrest presented to Ex-President-now-turned Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo of Pampanga.

Electoral Fraud is no petty thing or laughing matter. Way back 2004, she was accused of cheating during the presidential elections against the demised actor Fernando Poe, Jr. and the "Hello Garci" scandal.

In 2007, another similar incident happened during the national elections as the Ampatuans of Maguindanao also manipulated the said event.

Now, that she was out of the Malakanyang palace, the cabinet officials of President Benigno "NoyNoy" Aquino collated an ample details of facts and classified files that were turned over to the justice department where the main collaborator of those scandalous acts pointed out Mrs. Arroyo as the most persona non grata of the Philippines today.

Call it a repetition of Philippines history-politics sector, Filipinos reactions show no remorse or just a little pity of what happened during her nine-year reign as leader of this archipelago.

Marcos regime was ousted by EDSA People Power 1, Estrada administration suffered the same fate which catapulted the then-Vice President Arroyo to the highest position in the land.

She's well respected at the start due to her father's legacy, also a president of this country. But when her husband, Attorney Mike Arroyo, along with their offspring, manipulated government transactions that were turned into scandals and affected so many innocent lives, Filipinos became disgusted of her leadership.

As member of the press before, I have many up close interviews with the then-senator Arroyo. She always barred mediamen from questioning about her activities. Even when she's having a TV show at the government television network, she always hate to be questioned or she always walked away with her own presscon if irritating question is fired by members of the press.

A noted Senator Panfilo Lacson freshly quipped to wit: "It's a PITY that nobody pity her."

Or this is just a result of her karma and this time, she can never get away with it.

As of now, it's been a dispute whether she should be put to jail or just have a hospital arrest.

Expect more of the possible cases that will be handed down by the present administration to the members of her family and former cabinet officials.

Life must go on outside her jailhouse.

The rest of 80 million Filipinos are just waiting for the news to come.
