Love can seem incomplete ......a poem

Updated on April 7, 2014

Was it but the bright sun in
your eye's that
for need
Or the way the rain falling heavy
that created your unrest
in an ecstasy
after the night

Could have been the warm sand on
the beach that soared
upwards and warmed
your heart on a dawn
of loneliness

Was it something that you ate that
turned and turned when
you just had to hear her
voice in the

When winter winds blew cold
and you shivered
it could have been
just that .......
winter on the barren

Was any of it love
or was it just the yearning
soul of a poetic
an emotional tryst
a meeting
with another lonely
soul born
of need

And why ......It this is love
is there still this awesome
and endless
like a torch
laying softly against
the leg
of your soul

Hi Ed. Another delightful wistful poem. It makes me think that you like most of us, have not yet found the glittering prizes.

Oh this need doth forever abound even when she is lying next to you.

Great poem Ed. I like it a lot.

I would enjoy laying down with my eyes closed and hearing you recite your repertoire. You should put them all on CD someday for the world to hear. :)

Love sometimes has a bit of an ironic twist to it. Nice work.

The longing that ever drives us forward, so nicely explored here in all its pain and loneliness, a potent read

Profound reflective piece, dear Ed, as to discerning whether it is really love or just two lonely souls needing to hear words, those words that help one get through the night and may add a little hope .... or more despair knowing of what it really is ...

      Up and more and sharing

      Hugs and love,

      Faith Reaper
