Memories Fade

Updated on June 26, 2016

Nothing Lasts forever, everything is a fleeting mist

Memories once cherished lost, amongst the tangled neurons sit

How can something so much loved, not be mine forever more

Yet be relegated to fairy tales, and yesterday tales of lore

I no longer know which thoughts are mine or that mixed with false imprints

So I treasure what I may remember good, and label all bad memories those of false pretense

One day my mind may sharpen, and shear the deceptive pictures there

Clarity can then reign supreme, and allow me to puzzle all the pieces square

I pray that day when I am able to make all of the pieces fit

That I like the life that I have made and did not actually squander it

But if my puzzle show a picture painted by an evil man

Then I pray a fog descend my mind and cloud over the portrait 'gain

Love your poetry James, I hope I do so long that I would lose my memories. My grandma (Mammaw) still had her memories and mind when she passed away.

      Blessing and precious memories
