Memory of Jersey Shore...

Updated on November 10, 2012

Family Time... for " Shore "....

The family that plays together..stays together...
The family that plays together..stays together... | Source

The following poem was written for the Hurricane Sandy poetry challenge..

and dedicated to the great people of the Coastal states...You are in our prayers....

The memories of living on Jersey Shore...

Shall lie deep in our hearts for evermore...

For years the houses stood on that ground..

Sandy came... now it looks like a battleground...

People who lived there for generations...

Now became the topic for many nations.....

It’s hard to imagine, the feelings of despair...

But I know from experience that they all share..

A love for each other, their families and friends..

So the message today...that this poem sends..

May God bless you all and let it be told....

The land will once more be as before....

The beautiful awesome Jersey Shore..

Wonderful - just wonderful. I have spent many happy occasions on what was the Jersey Shore. So sad, heartbreaking to see so many at a disadvantage. With so many already struggling in todays economy, winter coming on and storms continuing to arrive my sincerest prayers and sympathies go out to so many.

You did so well with this. I'm voting up and sharing

Long Beach Island was my favorite place to go when my kids were little. Every summer my family would join up with my sister's family and my mother, and we'd rent a house for two weeks. These are such happy memories for me, and my heart breaks at the terrible destruction that Sandy brought to that small barrier island. Thanks for this poem - voted up!

shiningirisheyes..thank you for the comment, I'm so glad you liked it....such a terrible thing to have happened to anyone, let alone such an historical area, as the northeastern coastal...so many lives uprooted in a flash..but they have " chutzpah " and will rebuild..all we can do is show them support...

I am soooo terribly sorry for your loss!

my man hails from Jersey, altho, he moved to florida a year ago..

As we speak - he's in Queens, NY - holed up with a group of firefighters - helping to do whatever is necessary to ease the suffering!

I'm so proud of him, but - sooo wish it weren't necessary...

BlossomSB...Thank you for stopping by and commenting..truly a very frightening and emotional tragedy , that could have happened to any of us. The scars of this will carry on for a long time, however, I firmly believe that they will rebuild as they are of strong conviction. This should be a lesson to all of the world, that together we will move forward, as a nation if we ALL stand together. Thank you for your thoughts and words of support..have a wonderful week-end..

This is beautiful and realistic. I live real close to Ocean City and the other shore points and know of many who lost everything. We never even lost power or had damage which we were so thankful for. Thank you for thinking of everyone! I'm taking a ride today to see for myself.

rutley....Thank you for your comment..glad to know you escaped the wrath of sandy..Mother Nature can be very cruel sometimes and not to be understood it seems, but the strong move up and forward, so are the residents of the Northern coast. If you get pics , could you forward them to me @ my e-mail ? thanks again and have as good a day as you can..stay safe...

KJ, your such a beautiful soul my dear friend. This is a very thoughtful poem and at a time that is very trying for all of those involved. Such a terrible act and we should all keep them in our prayers. It seems like the weather is quite unusual anymore. I hope you are doing ok KJ. I have been so busy lately that I am only on here a day a week if I am lucky. So hard spreading my time anymore. Beautiful poem KJ and take care my dear. Voted up, awesome, beautiful, and shared.

lovedoctor926...yes I am ok..but my heart goes out to all those in the northeast coast, so much family history taken away in a flash. Your whole life history wiped out as though it never existed, now but in memory only..they say the world is constantly changing..but I don't think they realized just how much..here today gone tomorrow..

      glad you enjoyed the poem.

I lived in Belmar for a few years and love the shore. My brother's house in Brick on the river was flooded and needs to be rebuilt. Great poetic empathy in your poem.
