Mercy 34th Good Word in the “Good Words Project”

Updated on October 16, 2016

Mercy is Jo's calling

The "Good Words" project, created by Jo_Goldsmith11, Jo gives us a good word each week to practice living by, to help and inspire her fellow hubbers, to become the best writers we can be.

This is Jo's calling

To inspire and promote writers, authors and poets.

When Jo first started the "Good Words" project, I promised to write a poem for every good word she gave us weekly. I may not get them done as quickly as I would like but will continue to do them as quickly as possible for me.

This weeks good word is Mercy.

Mercy

God showers Mercy on everyone of us

From the lighting of the sun

To the twinkling of the stars

When each day is done

Mercy is Compassion

Caring for each other

Not just for their physical being

But for their very soul

Mercy is Sympathy

Empathy that runs deep

And we show sympathy

With promises we can keep

Jesus is the promise of forgiveness

For everybody’s sins, a merciful salvation

From the time that we begin

With His Holy sacrifice

Until we reach our final end

The greatest act of Mercy

God could ever show

To give up His own son

Because he loves us so….

Au fait, thank you for the compliment, comment and sharing, you will never know how much I appreciate you.

It has been a horrible long day and I do need to go and lay-me-down to sleep.

Blessings and Hugs my dear friend.

Sharing this again because I believe it's one of the most important things anyone can do for another person -- mercy and forgiveness. When mercy is given it is also received. A very good deal for all of us less than perfect folks. BAD, bad deal for all those people who know they're already perfect and don't need any mercy.

Hope all is well with you this bright sunny day. Got snipped again! They keep taking out my link capsules in favor of their choice of my hubs to promote instead -- hubs that have nothing in common with the one they are placed on. Must say, starting to feel like a cat after he's been moderated a bit with all this snipping. Take care, dear friend.

Back again to share this excellent poem about mercy. Mercy and forgiveness are perhaps the most important things to remember and to do since everyone needs both so often whether they think so or not.

Hope you are enjoying this pretty day. Won't be long and it will be too damned hot again. Blessings to you and John dear friend. Take care . . .

Mercy is so important, as is forgiveness and the 2 are really inseparable, or should be. Surprising how many people don't understand that withholding these things prevents them from receiving them as well.

Would share this if I could, but all the share buttons have been removed for some reason. I've checked, and it's not just your hubs that don't have share buttons. Have checked my own and the hubs of a couple of other people randomly and there are no share buttons. Wonder if this is another 'improvement' from HP?

Mercy......The offshoot of compassion, understanding and forgiveness.....cannot be withheld. Without these valuable virtues, there is no humanity.

Once this is lost, we are all doomed to a world of nothingness.

      Beautiful work, Shyron.

A great message here. I truly believe mercy (and forgiveness go hand in hand) is one of the most important things we can have for each other. If we want mercy we must be generous towards other people with it. We all need it more often than we might want to admit.

I really believe God will hold us to our own standard by which we judge other people and that is an important reason for being generous with mercy and forgiveness -- so that we may also receive it.

      Sharing again of course.

Hope you and John are well, and happy to learn that Mr. Walker is biting the dust. :) Blessings and hugs, dear friend . . .

Au fait, thank you for the comments. Yes you are right, we will pay for our sins.

The heat could not have reached 140 degrees F. We would have all burned up, maybe it was 104.

I hope you are staying cool.

      Blessings and Hugs always.

Mercy and forgiveness are so important not only because they are the right thing to do, but because if we fail to have these things for others, God will not have them for us either. What you sew you shall also reap. Most people believe that means now, but in fact it means in the next life. Punishments are not handed out in this life, but in the next, along with rewards.

So awful hot yesterday. My usual weather website said the high yesterday was 140 F. Cleary a typo, though it was awfully hot at 97 F. Doesn't get below 76 at night anymore. Hope you are staying in the cool as much as possible. Take care . . .

And if God has mercy on us who are so undeserving, who are we to withhold our mercy from any other person?

Mercy and forgiveness, we all need it sometimes. When God gives it to us so freely, who are we to withhold it from others?

Even as He died on the cross, Jesus asked His father to forgive those people who put Him on that cross and treated Him so abominably leading up to that horrific event .

If that sin can be forgiven, and God is willing to forgive such a heinous deed as nailing His only Son to a cross and letting Him die a slow, agonizing death, then what sin are we ourselves too good to forgive? How can we withhold forgiveness and mercy from anyone? Especially the poor who are said to be shiftless, lazy, and slothful? Those people seemingly the most hated people in the U.S.are God's most loved. How can Christians still call themselves Christians when they dare to scorn their leader's words and commands?

How will those people who turn their backs on the poor answer Jesus when He asks why they treated Him so shabbily? They will say, but when did we do that? And He will say, when you turned your back on the least of these, you turned your back on me . . .

Unbelievable that last week the city of Fort Worth Texas bulldozed the only homes of 80 homeless people including children. Then they reported, no boasted, that they hauled some 68,000 pounds of trash away from the campsite to the landfill.

The so-called 'trash' was the only belongings of homeless people who were allowed only what they could carry away on the spot without notice. I say these people who persecute the homeless are evil. No true Christian could ever do such a thing to people who are without much of anything.

I bet the people who ordered and did the bulldozing aren't homeless. I bet they live like fat pigs off the taxpayers dollars. They may even have the audacity to call themselves Christians.

Fort Worth claims to destroy homeless camps just like the one referred to above about 120 times each year. And they're proud of that accomplishment.

Sharing this excellent poem. Very not today, but the night is the true test as there are few places to get in out of the heat. Blessings to you and John . . . Happy Easter!

Au fait, yes the world needs a lot more mercy, to receive it and to give it. I find myself asking for Mercy daily, and I hope that I am merciful to others.

Thank you so much for the comments, compliments, up-votes and for all that you do.

Blessings and Hugs to you also my Dear Friend.

The world definitely needs a lot more mercy. God showers us with it as you rightly point out but not enough of us pass it on. We seem to want to horde it and it's one of those things that disintegrates unless used. A person gets back what they give, though not so much in this life as the next one. In this life things can be very one sided and one may never be appreciated for all they do and contribute, but amends will be made in the next life. One can't take their horde of mercy with them . . .

      Voted up and awesome!

Hope you enjoyed this pretty day. Blessings and hugs for you and John. Take care . . .

Wanted to visit this poem again as mercy is so important to all of us. We all need it daily even if we don't think so, and it goes well with forgiveness, which we all need everyday also. Since we are all is such great need of mercy ad forgiveness, maybe it would be good to practice giving it as well . . .

      Sharing again.

Ann, thank you, for the comment. You are right about friends not worrying about such things, but I do feel bad when it takes me a long time to reply to the wonderful comments from my wonderful friends and I fear you/ they will think I have forgotten them.

I love songs, my family was musical. And my grandson, I hope will be on American Idol, I sent my hub about him to nominate him to be on Idol.

The man who called singing frivolous, will never know the joys of food for the soul.

Songs are so important! Some may be frivolous but how good it is to be just that once in a while! What a blinkered man he must have been. I almost feel sorry for him.

No need to apologise for not replying sooner; I know that many times I've been away and delayed responses. Friends don't worry about such things.

Dear Ann, thank you for your wonderful comments and compliments.

Politicians do not read our words, I had one tell me, when I was singing while I worked, that songs are frivolous, and it angered him that I just laughed. As I replied to Colleen, politicians and developers worship the money god.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.

I agree with Colleen. The politicians could do well to read these wonderful poems of yours. Mercy is something many are not good at. It's so easy to criticise but not so easy to stop and think about the 'why's and the 'wherefore's.

Mercy, who has never needed it? The Bible teaches that to receive mercy and forgiveness, one must give it. After all, whose sins are so much better than anyone else's that they should receive the gifts of mercy and forgiveness, yet others do not? No one's. As a result, to receive one must first give. If all do these things, forgive and then also receive forgiveness, all sins will be forgiven.

Voted up, BAUI, and will share.

Oh, Dear Shyron, this is beautiful beyond any words I can come up with here! You have brought home the true meaning of mercy. What a most wonderful read on this Saturday morning. The video gave me goosebumps too. "How sweet the sound ..." indeed!

If God can show us all such mercy and grace through His son on that cross, we can all surely show all those with whom we come into contact ...mercy and grace to His glory.

You are beautiful and so is your writing. I love your own graphic art here too ... perfect.
