Meritropolis by Joel Ohman

Updated on November 14, 2015

I was sent a free copy of Meritorium (Meritropolis) (Volume 2) by Joel Ohman in exchange only for my honest and unbiased review of Meritorium (Meritropolis) (Volume 2) by Joel Ohman.

Meritropolis by Joel Ohman

Meritropolis by Joel Ohman takes place in a place known as Meritropolis. Meritropolis by Joel Ohman focuses on the idea that everyone is assigned a score; this score determines the worth of the person. The plot of Meritropolis by Joel Ohman comes into play when a boy's younger brother is killed because of his low score. The surviving brother vows to destroy the system.

Meritropolis by Joel Ohman takes place in AE3, 3 years after the Event. In Meritropolis 50,000 people live behind the wall in fear. They are ruled by the brutal System that assigns each citizen a merit score that dictates whether the person lives or dies. Those will high scores live in luxury while low scores are thrown to the terrifying hybrid creatures that exist on the other side of the gate.

As I wrote at the top: "I was sent a free copy of Meritorium (Meritropolis) (Volume 2) by Joel Ohman in exchange only for my honest and unbiased review of Meritorium (Meritropolis) (Volume 2) by Joel Ohman."

As of the publication date of this hub I have not read Meritropolis by Joel Ohman; I have only read the second novel Meritorium (Meritropolis) (Volume 2) by Joel Ohman. If at some point I receive the first novel I will update this review with an update section below.

The first thing I noticed about Meritorium (Meritropolis) (Volume 2) by Joel Ohman was the awesome cover art the book's cover makes the reader want to open the book to discover what the quote at the bottom of the cover means and what a rhino has to do with it.

The book seems like it starts right after book ones finished. Which made it very difficult for me to understand what was going on Meritorium (Meritropolis) (Volume 2) by Joel Ohman lacks any sort of prologue to bring the reader up to date or remind them of the important events that occurred in the first novel.

One of the aspects of Meritorium (Meritropolis) (Volume 2) by Joel Ohman that I really lives was that the page at the end of each chapter had a black and white sketch of the different creatures and plant life in the book with the creature's name. For instance after chapter one there is a picture of the Llambill (LLlama-shoebill).

Once I got about midway through the book I truly started to enjoy it as the information from book one became obsolete as I started to get to know the characters. I still wish that I knew what happened in book one so that I could understand some of the the characters talked about and their motivations, but I still really enjoyed reading the book. I would recommend the series to anyone who enjoyed the hunger games series.
