Micro-Poem (No. 1) The Frustrated Writer

Updated on October 30, 2016

John values the use of humour and enjoys writing and reading limericks and jokes. He is a fan of Monty Python, Mr Bean, Black Books etc.

First in a Series

This is the very first in a series of humorous short poems that will only take you a few seconds to read, and I hope at least make you, the reader, smile. They probably won't impress HubPages because of their brevity and will languish with the "unfeatured" status, but such is life.

The Frustrated Writer

Sitting silent at my desk

Staring blankly at the screen

Fingers hover over keys

But no words come to be.

Writer's block, or lacking thoughts

Is my inspiration gone?

Or maybe it is just because

The power switch isn't on.

Yes drbj, I remember those instructions from the tech, as well as 'Did you turn it off and on again?' Thanks, and haven't had my poems called 'pithy' before...haha.

Pithy but clever. Makes me recall back when personal computers first became popular with the masses and customers called for help, the first question the computer tech would ask is: 'Did you turn the computer on?'
