Mills and Boon

Updated on June 20, 2013

My story with Mills and Boon

When I was at school I had a friend who was passionate about reading Mills and Boone romantic novels. She used to bring me one to read as well, so that we could read on our breaks. I loved all the places in these romantic books, sometimes the stories were a bit weak but there was all the excitement of visiting these places. The rest of my class would ridicule us about reading them, including my sister-in-law, even today after 30 plus years the one thing she remembers from school days is that, scary really, some people really can’t live in the now, they constantly go back. Her constant reminder of me reading these Mills and Boone gave me the idea that maybe that’s what I needed to get off my chest.

One thing I took from these books was the travel, they say thoughts become things; well I got to see most of these wonderful places. I guess thoughts do become things; I just never got all these wonderful heroes in the books. I just found real men, with real faults and I guess from all different places in the world.

My mother just loved the Anne Mather books from Mills and Boon, I guessed I did as well, so on my travels I would look in secondhand bookstores or in new stores wherever I could find them, she must have the whole collection, she is trying to get rid of them now.

Here is an excerpt out of one of Anne Mather's newer books:

Walking away from her husband Roque Aguiar Ac Costa was the hardest thing Jewel had ever done. But now Roque has come to the Amazon rain forest, claiming that he is her boss and she is still his wife.

Mills and Boon, what is romance?

What is romance really? For some it is meeting the man of their dreams, getting married having babies and spending the rest of their life together. For others it is meeting a man and then going through all the heartbreak and then picking up the pieces and starting over again until you meet the supposed one.

It is always wonderful to see couples that have been together for 30 years or more and still happy and all romantic. These days everyone seems to have been through a divorce or several divorces and then moved on.

Well need I say that I have not met my dark, strong, handsome hero yet, he must be still waiting to come rescue me on his white horse.  No I have been on a journey of self-discovery and the right person will come along when the time is right. It is quite hard to find someone that has the same outlook on life or similar interests but I am slowly attracting the right people to me.

Leopard in the Snow

One of my favorite books, about this guy living in the remote country somewhere, he had been an ex motor racer and had a accident. This young girl falls for him and as she lives with him in this remote cottage.
