Taking time out...for one's self....

When you look in the mirror, who do you see ?

She looks in the mirror and sees a face…

And the face looks back at her….

Who are you ? she asks….

You look so familiar ,are you from my past ?

I feel we are friends or is it just me ?

What do you think when you look back at me ?

Knowing the answer, without even a doubt…

She thinks she knows ,what this is about…

She needs confirmation from Family and Friends…

That she is important ,and will be till the end….

Of life’s lessons she’s learned , living outside the box…

Will be as traditions , just like bagels and lox…..

I see a woman who has set many goals…

But not without sacrifice ..

and has paid very high tolls…

She strives to move forward and never looks back…

And doesn’t even know the definition of slack..

I see the inner child who wants nothing more…

than to please those around her, which makes her heart soar.

The years have passed and so has her youth...

But the gleam in her eye, tells the truth...

The secret to loving...is loving ones' self......

.

I have a good habit of returning to hubs that I believe strongly in.I like to reenforce the good and slowly erase the bad one day at a time.A very honest and truthful hub.

KJ, I really enjoy your style of writing and poetry. How many times do we look back at the past and ponder? The mirror can represent so much, as this poem which many can relate to. Hope you are doing great my dear friend. Take care and best wishes.

Excellent words that did see me through; the depth can lead to different meanings, that proves that what we see in the mirror can change at any given minute according to the minute and hour of the day. Thanks KJ!

ki force Have you heard wrinkles are in.That is why all the young kids where baggy pants. They want to be like you.Enjoy your day having fun and try to stay out of the hot sun.

Thank you so much DREAM ON....I am happy in my own skin, only problem, it needs ironing..too many wrinkles. If I had known that 40 years ago I would have changed to permanent press..

What a privilege it is to know our own self.To be happy in our own skin.Years go by and we finally learn we had our best friend with us all along.I loved it.

Awesome poem KJ and so true. So many people worry about what others say and think. It can really effect how one views their self. Very creative idea. Many can relate to this. We spend so much time looking at the outside, and truth be told, the inside is more beautiful.
