Mockingbird Serenade

Updated on August 21, 2016
The birds of Summer...
The birds of Summer...

Those sweetest days of Summer come and all to go so soon,

Shared sun-ups, sun-downs, the birds, listening to their tunes.

They wake us up every morning, sing us to sleep, in the night,

While we dream, all's sugar and cream, in the moon so bright.

Refrain:

Just sitting in the shade, sipping lemonade,

Listening to that Mocking bird's serenade.

Just to listen to a Nightingale, a Loon, or Whippoorwill,

Soothes our very souls, as sounds carry over the hill.

But there's nothing better to hear, a sing-along parade,

A precious, delicate sing-song Mocking bird serenade.

Refrain:

Just sitting in the shade, sipping lemonade,

Listening to that Mocking bird's serenade.

As moonbeams dance over the water, sweet scents fill the air,

What a lucky soul, these times I extol, all is so extra ordinaire.

The star lit night, makes it so right, as shadows are cast afar,

Music filled sounds, on the ear abounds, as I play my guitar.

Refrain:

Just sitting in the shade, sipping lemonade,

Listening to that Mocking bird's serenade.

That sing-along, sing-song sweetest Mockingbird serenade.

Presented to all who will listen, this fine musical promenade.

Every rare note of finest quality, enlightening, as spirits soar,

Orchestrations heard daily, by night, makes us all want more.

Refrain:

Just sitting in the shade, sipping lemonade,

Listening to that Mockingbird's serenade.

Another beautiful poem filled with melodies of singing critters. I have an assortment of birds that I feed daily, including humming birds. They are a joy to watch and listen to. Your photos are great!

A lovely poem, which translates to the birds that live in these parts; different but happily, in many aspects, still the same with the same great pleasure to those who will stop, listen and enjoy.

I couldn't sleep one night and listened to a mockingbird serenade for a good part of an hour. It was so amazing. Thanks for the sweet reminder as to their beauty.

Great photos! I love birds and their distinctive songs. We don't have the Mockingbird here in Britain, of course, but we have some wonderful songbirds nonetheless.

      Lovely poetry, as always.
