More Than You Can Know

Updated on January 24, 2014

Stretching for miles and miles

As far as the eye can see

Would be the years

That have gone by

If it was possible

I could imagine

Each calendar page

Sprouting wings

Like birds and just flying off

High up into the sky

As time goes by

Can it be?

That we remain the same

As time ever spins onward

Somewhere deep inside

I’m always searching

For the me that I used to be

I know I haven’t changed

And yesterday is still

Just around the corner

No one can tell me

That it isn’t so

I know better

That the woman who I’ve become

Can just shake off some years

To become a teenager once more

And from there onto childhood

Stepping back in time

To reaquaint myself

With the days that have gone by

To relate with the memories

Of people and places and times

That perhaps have made me

A better person

There are moments I wonder

If so much time has really passed

If I can still recognize

The face that my mirror reflects

Then I have to smile

Because she and I

Still have so much more to experience

So many more memories

To add to a treasure chest

That is already filled

With the very best

A nice time-fusion piece where past evolution has to be taken into account

as current changes continue to occur.

Gypsy, this is exceptional poetry, I can certainly relate to your words, it touches something in all of us as we grow older. But those chest of beautiful memories are what we have to show for a life well lived, with much more to come. Have a wonderful day, my best..

      Beautifully expressed!

I can relate to it--sometimes I tend to look back at my earlier life, almost with the same feelings as expressed by you. How time flies, the heart remains the same but the outer appearance changes.

      Very nice and thanks!

The moment we open up this hub, those lovely flowers remind us that spring can’t be too far away; it’s hard to imagine that all this beauty is waiting, sleeping under the icy snow. This splendor is waiting and is just around the corner as are the memories and experiences you speak of in your beautiful poem. Well done, Rasma. :-)

Hello Gypsy. Very interesting read as nostalgia seems to be seeping us all. The Beatle's song is perfectly matched to your poetry.
