How to get more views to your online articles

Updated on January 25, 2014

Need Website Help?

Get more views to your articles

This article is for all of you online writers who are publishing helpful articles and want to increase your page views and earnings. I have been publishing online articles at Ehow, Bukisa, Helium, Hubpages and on my own personal websites and blogs. From experience, I know how to write an article that will get ranked well enough to get the page views needed to increase earnings. I try to please my readers as well as the search engines that crawl my online content. Please read the below tips to be able to get more views to your articles.

This first thing you need to know that will help with more article views is to remember that real people read your online articles. The human eye is the main thing you need to concentrate on when writing an article. Yes, you need to optimize your articles for the search engines. However, mainly you want real people to read and enjoy your information that you share online. Displaying helpful information to your audience will have them coming back for more. Many people that read your articles will also take time to bookmark and share your articles if they feel that you have supplied valuable information.

Ranking well in the search engines will also increase your article page views. How do you rank well in the search engines? Learn search engine optimization techniques. I will share some basics with you but you need to do more research on search engine optimization (SEO). When writing an article, you do need to add relevant keywords to your article. Start out with your article title, add a keyword in your title. Make sure to add your keyword or keyword phrase three times per every 300 words that is included in your article.

Do research on your chosen keywords with google keyword tool. You can find this by searching google keyword tool. Find keyword phrases that people are searching for. Pick a topic for your article that isn't to competitive. There are many online writers that write about the same topics. Do your research on what you are writing about. Outrank your competitors articles if you are writing about the same article topic. Include information that people need to know and want the answers to.

After your article has been published, take some time to share your article and gain backlinks. Backlinks to your articles will increase your page rank, which will increase your article views. Share your articles on Stumbleupon, Facebook, Myspace, Digg and if you have a blog at, write a helpful post about your article and build a link to it. You will be surprised by the increase of views you get to your articles when you have many backlinks.

Submit your article to online directories and search engines. Submiting your article to search engines will speed up the crawling process. Therefore, you will be ranked sooner and google likes articles that have been around for awhile. The more your article ages, the better the page rank will be. Also, add new content to your articles and or update your articles whenever necessary. Google search engine likes listing new content.

Thanks! I really like the hub Tammy! Very informative and not filled with fluff. I'm new to hubpages and I do love having an outlet to write my thoughts and give advice. I find myself knowing a lot of information and passing it own to my circle of friends and family. I'm happy I can pass on my knowledge and curiosity to others beyond my circle.

Great hub Tammy, I didn't realise that you had to use the keywords 3 times in every 300 words? Top tip.

      I'll give it a go.

@Elaine Are you asking how to find your Referral link at bukisa? If so it is on the right of your page when you first login to Bukisa...I hope this helps, if not let me know and I will double check. Thanks for commenting on my Hub. Nice to see you.

I will warn you about submitting to link directories.

It is against the Google Adsense TOS, along with other forms of "Junk" traffic generation. Please bear this in mind if you are writing for adsense.

@Edward Thanks for reading my Hub on increasing page views. It is important to reach people and not just spiders. When are you going to write a Hub here on Hubpages? I am following you and look forward to reading your helpful articles.

Nice hub and very well written. Good common sense Tammy, but we all need to be reminded that it is about reaching people and not just spiders.

      Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Hub Liama, You really need to be active on Helium to make some good money, write long useful articles and rate other articles also. I am so stuck on ehow and hubpages lol. Ehow is having publishing problems and it is always nice to be able to publish elsewhere when problems occur. Thanks again.

And, at least here at HubPages, it doesn't hurt to comment on good hubs by saying thanks or adding a little bit of info. (Self-referential anyone?)

Logged in HubPages authors automatically have a link back to their writer profile. Take a look, and you will find that those links are NOT nofollowed. In other words, every comment you make boosts your profile's pagerank which then links to your hubs, and maybe to your own sites.

Thanks, for another good one Tammy. How do you like Helium? I never really cared for Squidoo, but I've never tried Helium.

It really pays to make some keyword preparation first.
