Moth Lesson ( a poem of inspiration)

Updated on June 10, 2016
Came upon a moth...seemed weak...
Came upon a moth...seemed weak...

As I happened upon a moth one day, was so lovely, but then seemed hurt,

Picked him up, this gentle form, as he struggled, then to light upon my shirt.

Was so beautiful, with precious wings, nature's splendor, so well exemplified,

Fluttering twice, he then dropped to the ground, was sad, as I almost cried.

So beautiful and helpless, his future looked so bleak...
So beautiful and helpless, his future looked so bleak...

Little moth be strong and please don't give up, were my only words to share

Nature's innocents so wonderful, to be saved, are our responsibility, to care.

I picked the moth up once again, and I gently placed him on a nearby vine,

The tiny creature stirred and to fly even higher, enjoying the warm sunshine.

The tiny creature then came alive...to enjoy the warm sunshine...
The tiny creature then came alive...to enjoy the warm sunshine...

As I held such a rare beauty in my hand, was reminded of our own plight,

How we each must never give up, no matter the hardships, all must fight.

As I watched the moth to flutter its wings, and then once again take flight,

I vowed, myself, to never give in, stay strong, as my friend flew out of sight.

Our nation is much like the moth. We've all got to learn to fly gain.

My sister rescued a moth once, we found it so fascinating to observe as it learned to fly. A lovely poem!

Most delightful and so glad the moth flew away and was free to enjoy his flight.

Thank you Eric and so glad you enjoyed my poem about the moth. I felt it deserved something special and as a part of all nature should be preserved. whonu

My six year old is developing a strong attachment and need to help our insect friends. So your beautiful work here reminded me through your expressed love that we all need a helping hand from time to time.

This was very well done. The moth was a good example to not give up when odds are against us.

I have a strong feeling for insects ( birds and animals as well) ...at least more so than most. I was a science teacher and we studied insects. I imagine this article will encourage others to give it some thought. Well done.
