Mother Nature's Moods

Mother Nature's Moods

Thunder grumbles beneath the breath
of Mother Nature's sighs...
As brilliant flashes of lightening strobe
before observant eyes...

Clouds so dark and threatening
invade without contest...
accompanied by angry winds
On Mother Nature's quest.

She passes through, a formidable force
that refuses to be tamed...
her ire is unpredictable...
and quite haplessly inflamed.

She demands her share and more,
her intentions sometimes suspect...
and does not bow to anyone,
appeased by none, unchecked.

So it is wise to pay one's dues
and fail not to neglect
acknowledging her moodiness
and showing her due respect.

There is something so beautiful about the way Nature comes to life in such humbling and fantastic ways. The original artist you might say. Love the personification and imagery...nice work!

Beautiful poem and catches Mother Earth's moods so well. That's the beauty of nature for me - some times transient at other times splendidly in your face!

Twice now in a very short time you have written about this formidable female force you symbolize as nature that demands respect. This image keeps cropping up. It is a powerful poem with an underlying subconscious message that is struggling to get out and voice expression. Thank you.

Spirit Whisperer, I will indeed ponder this idea...you are correct. Twice in the past week we have had formidible storms come through, and I am always awed by the power of nature. Thank you for your read and comment and I will surely think about this! Hugs!

Here here, she must be treated with respect! Get the word out! We have failed miserably as a race and we must treat her as if she is one of us!

I graduated with my BA after studying poetry specifically and I absolutely love narrative poetry. It gives those who are afraid to read it more comfort in being able to follow a storyline and characters. If you really like narrative poetry and nature, I would suggest a book called "After the Revival" by Carrie Jerrell. She was a professor of mine and it has some raw, narrative poetry inspired by her natural surroundings. It’s a fabulous read! Great job on the writing btw...loved it.

kbarnes, thank you. I will give "After the Revival" a read. I am basically uneducated in poetry, I am embarrassed to say, other than writing it, which I have just always done. Your comment is perhaps the nudge I need to get educated...again, thanks!
