Mother's Cradle

Updated on May 19, 2015

I recently had an image of a Mother embracing her son who passed away from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). This small poem was written to capture her feelings while she cradles him in her arms.

A Mother's Cradle

Sweetness sits in silence,
Mother cradles with her bosom of understanding,
Compassion shifts from chamber to chamber,
While in us, dust, lies our true essence.

A memory joined in rhythm,
A gift eternal to part no more,
Though time once determined to split through this angry prism,
Two souls unified now at the origin, as once before.

Tomorrows boom may drift,
Carrying to new direction un-deposed,
In the awakening of dawns new promise,
A chance to remember you,
Your face,
Your precious gift.
