Mother's Day Poem - Dear Mom
Dear Mom,
How can I really express the love and gratitude I have for you?
Even though I have been signalling my appreciation from inside the womb
Mother, I have felt every care and love you had for me from I was within
Your protection of me, keeping me safe and healthy, oh where do I even begin?
You wiped my runny nose.
Changed my diaper and my soiled clothes.
When I created a mess you cleaned it up.
When I tripped and fell, you dressed my cut.
When the world seemed like a land of Giants wanting to swallow me whole.
You held me close to your bosom, keeping me nice and warm away from the cold
Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed mom.
Working two jobs, day and night just to buy my clothe for the prom.
I look at your tired hands and the only thing I could do was weep.
When I remember how you toiled for me, the million tiles you scrubbed, the dirty floors you sweep
Oh mom, you have taught me integrity, honesty and love. Now I live by that code.
Never to stoop below who I really am be, what I can become, never to sell my soul
Mother, when I needed a friend there was no one around but you
Even though we were generations apart, you showed me strength, showed me another way. You let me know what to do
Haaa, how could I forget the butter cookies you used to make.
When coming from school I could smell them from a thousand miles, I remember how you loved to bake.
Mother, I love you, I love you for who you are, for being the best mother to me.
Here mom, take my hand, you have lead me long enough, now it is time I take the lead
Here mom, take it, all the love, all the happiness, I will give you all the things that you need.
Now I take a good look at you and I see all the ages we have passed
You have done it mom, you have raised a child with a soul and a spirit above world class
Mother, to me you could have done no wrong.
Everyday when I raise my eyes to be blessed, I have to say thank God for mom.
