Be Still and Move On

Updated on March 16, 2013

Don’t look back. Things might be gaining on you.

When life gets hard and your prospects are few,

don’t be afraid, stand firm, be still, move on.

When this cruel world tries to makes you its pawn,

when you’re down, confused, and haven’t a clue—

Don’t look back. Things might be gaining on you.

When Despair whispers that no one is true,

you’re lost, lonely, and don’t know what to do—

don’t be afraid, stand firm, be still, move on.

When you think your dreams and future are gone,

when Self-pity leaves you broken and blue—

don’t look back. Things might be gaining on you.

When things of this world have clouded your view,

when you’ve bitten off more than you can chew—

don’t be afraid, stand firm, be still, move on.

Though it may seem darkest before the dawn,

remember each sunrise makes all things new.

Don’t look back. Things might be gaining on you.

Don’t be afraid, stand firm, be still, move on.
