My Blue Memories

Updated on July 11, 2016

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I live in the suburbs of Riga, Latvia with my hubby, Martin & cat, Sid.

My blue memories -

come upon when moments of longing,

fill my very heart.

They’re not sad,

but filled with love.

My blue memories,

bring back thoughts,

of days gone by,

of friends who’ve passed on

and I miss so very much.

My blue memories,

bring back summers of joy

and laughter which I still hear -

echoing in the sky above.

They come at twilight,

as the velvet night sails in

with the summer breezes.

As the clouds play with the moon,

as I look up toward the heavens,

I can see the faces I’ve been missing

and my heart beats with great joy.

As it all comes back to me -

while flowery perfume fills the air

and brings back my blue memories.

Life is full of surprises

and full of unexpected good-byes.

It’s nice to think of them all -

swinging on the stars above,

seeing me down below

and knowing that my blue memories -

bring them all back to me.

In the quiet of a star-filled night,

I can hear their voices

and I have to smile.

Remembering the times spent together,

the summers when we ran in the sun.

My blue memories -

take me on wondrous journeys

and fill my dreams,

of moments that are so precious to me.

My blue memories,

then comfort so

and I’m happy that though we’ve parted -

we’re still so very close.

And, that Rasma, sums up gracefully. Parting is hard, but sometimes necessary. Let the eternal Love always win. The song at the end was cool. Joy to you...

I call that sweet melancholy, and you captured it perfectly.

Sweetness within the core of time passed. There are moments we remember as touching, in spite of the losses.

I love this, Rasma. Blue memories can be so sweet. I never really thought about it until reading this. You always make me think!

I really like this line: "as the clouds play with the moon".
