My Cat Won't Let Me Sleep

Updated on February 10, 2012

My Four Legged Terror

I hear clawing on the sides of the bed

Wake up wake up sleepy head

I crawl out of bed and put some food down for my cat to eat

She wants to play not eat

So she climbs on my desk nocking one of the speakers to the floor

Ruffles through papers as she explores even more

Stop it I say

She insists she wants to play

It is 5:05 in the morning

My eyes closed and me still yawning

I throw her a toy

She watches it go across the room

I am not going to run for it

So I go get it and throw it again

She watches me her head turning and probably laughing

I'm not getting it

I throw it again this time she walks away

I had enough your no fun

I am not going to run

So I go to the kitchen to get something to eat

She jumps on the counter and rolls across the table and bounces on her feet

I want to play

So I take out a feather duster she usually goes crazy for

This time she watched me play with it

Back and forth tapping it on the floor

She rolled over still bored

I go on the computer

She jumps up in my face

I want to play

I put her down and back behind the computer she goes

Clawing at every wire she sees

I scoot her out and give her a treat

She sniffs and lifts up her head

I want to play

Off to bed I bring her to the edge next to my feet where she sleeps

She instantly hops down

I want to play

I get up and pat her once again

Finding another toy she likes

She is just like a girl I knew hard to please and loves to tease

She has pushed all my buttons and she still wants something else

I am not sure what

I don't think I will ever know

What makes her happy or keeps her satisfied

She has me mystified

Jackie Lynnley I have had a few good scratches in the past I thought my arm was a little road map.Sometimes they are better left alone.Wow age 17 that is wonderful.Mine is asleep how about yours?Thanx for sharing.

I try to wear mine down some, sometimes; but her being 17 - I hate to overwork her. She did sleep through last night and I am hoping tonight. I have some nasty scratches from a couple nights ago. She doesn't do it on purpose but it sometimes happens in the middle of the night when she and I get our wires crossed and I don't wake up fast enough to please her, lol.

Ooooh Loved this, but you have me crying again. I could see my lovely Princess , Our stray kitten who stayed with us until she was 17 years old. I miss her so much.

I love the way you can put into words exactly how it is with a cat.

Love and peace, dear friend. and love to all your cats.

I sure understand this. Mine wakes me up at 4 am and if poking my chest doesn't work she crawls on my head and I think she wants out but no, she doesn't want out, so I open fresh food and go back to bed. At 5 am she wants out so I sit and wait since it is winter and she never comes back scratching to get in so I have to put on my jacket and go hunting for her. She lives outside in the summer and I hope it comes soon!

Phoebe Pike That sounds worse than me.I use to put a lotion on my face before bed. Many mornings I woke up with the cat licking my face. That is an eye opener.I have an idea for a story we could write together.Let me know if you are interested?Have a great day and don't forget to give your cat extra love today.I couldn't win so I just gave in.Hugging and playing all morning.Thanx for sharing.

My cat won't let me sleep either. He keeps waking me up and getting tangled in my hair.
