My Holiday Is Being At Home

Updated on December 15, 2016

Every Chance I Get

Time to relax and do the things I love

Spending time with my wife

She enjoys baking cookies and cooking different recipes she sees

I am her dishwasher and fan club

Cheering her on when she is uncertain

Listening and comforting her when things go haywire

I am her personalized taste tester

She has quite an operation

Ingredients piled high on the countertop

Dirty dishes stacked gently on top of each other in the sink

We can't forget her famous cooling station

A lot can happen in a small kitchen

Out of my way

I was just trying to help

I am going where you are going

Can you hold that

You're trying to hold the corner and eat a cookie at the same time

Really I will leave it for you

Where are you going ???

I thought you were done

Can you get me....

Do you have a second....

My wife is busy thinking

I quitely sneak away

I let her have fun

We are both listening to Christmas songs for background music

She talks to herself

Now we throw these puppies in

I don't think the Humane Society would be happy to hear about that

She gives me one of her loving smiles

This is my last bowl

I'm done for today

Thank you for all your help

We did a lot

Now I have a big smile

I write while she moves cookie batter from a bowl to a pan

We each do are own thing

At the same time we are together

My wife singing along and humming when she doesn't know the words

I just remain quite

I am savoring the moment

Thinking back when I was young

I loved being my mother's little helper

I never had any desire to be the cook

Time has a way of slipping away

Forty five years later

Mom now gone four years

Memories of my mom fresh in my thoughts

My life has changed so much

I have a loving wife and a family of my own

Now I am happy just being my wife's little helper

My hubby, me and our cat Sid always are just three over the holidays. By Latvian tradition we start our special celebrating on Christmas Eve when we sit down to a special dinner and a bowl of punch. For a long time now we just remember to include a celebration for Jesus birth at midnight but no longer exchange presents.

Sounds like "home sweet home" to me. You and your wife are blessed to have each other. It is also a blessing to have such a positive home atmosphere to write about.

My dear Michael/Dream On, - Michael Milec is a kind and loving person, for sure! He's on Facebook and is always encouraging and inspiring people there, too! Two special Michaels! And I have a beloved stepson named Michael, as well. Must be something 'in the name'!

I love your thoughts on being at home as the holiday's essence. Helping your wife as she's baking ad cooking paints a lovely picture in the spirit of Christmas!

Your sentence ". . . I am savoring the moment . . . " says it all. Savoring each and every moment is the only way to fully experience LIFE.

      I enjoyed this very much!

Michael Milec You continue to amaze me with your kind thoughts and vibrant attitude. I feel a rush of energy and deep pleasure. Thank you for all your beautifully written words. They keep me focused and reassure my decision to keep writing. You keep giving and when I go to your hubs you have none. You spend all your time and energy commenting and helping other people. How thoughtful is that. Thank you for reading and commenting. The sun could not be seen an hour ago. now it lights up my morning and my day.
