My Kinda Love

This is a free verse poem that I dedicate to my grandson Callum. He is all that is good in my life and I adore the time that I am allowed to spend with him. This is also dedicated to the memory of my mum and Stan (my lovely dad) who have left this world, but still captivate a space in my heart.

My Kinda Love

Free spirit which soars like the kestrel in the sky above

Wings fully stretched to encompass the air beneath

Heart of the lion never afraid to challenge

Will not be defeated without a fight

The panther so intent of purpose

Never ending inspiration found in common places

True to the end of time

Sensual like the gazelle who prances elegantly

Capturing his soul with her grace

Her beauty reflecting in his eyes

The strength and nurturing of the elephant

Standing tall above her baby

Loyal as the drake is to his swan

Swimming at the water’s edge,

Faithful to death do they part

Devoted as the leopard

Muscles rippling across broad shoulders

Never to judge the outcome

Yielding as the mare to her stallion

But understanding her dominance in the herd

I could compare my kinda love to the animals

Yet it exists only for you

for you are my mate

My reason for living

and I simply just love you

This is the life

Such love for our children

This is so beautiful, I felt the love you have for your precious grandson. I am not a grandfather yet and if I ever become one I hope both my daughters are speaking to me and seeing me so that I do get to hold their children in my arms. So precious, there is nothing more beautiful than a child in all species. Hugs
