My Life is a Fairy Tale
My life is a fairy tale, believe me its true
My princesses drag me to every ball too.
Spinning in taffeta skirts and in chiffon gowns
Wearing sparkly golden and bejeweled crowns.
In heels cut for a queen and with lips painted red
We hurried to meet time the invitation said.
Spinning wheels a horse drawn carriage all strewn with lace
Horses’ prancing that kept perfect melodic pace.
At palace we stood in awed stare from the oak door
At clothing people of our kingdom wore.
Strings, trumpets, bells and horns played a lively dance tune
We knew as we danced the party would end too soon.
While on our way home our carriage broke down
Thieves jumped from the wood and stole my dear’s crown.
Fairies flitted after thieves through the night
The lighted wings of glitter quite the site.
The stir caused our horses to run astray
We wanted home but did not know the way.
A miniature tornado of leaves and dust swirled
Then we were looking at a woman the size of small girl.
“Get in the funnel and away we will go,
My special magic wind the way home does know.”
My princesses and I jumped in real fast
Wanting to be on our way home at last.
The time had been fun but it was the end
My princesses knew I had socks to mend
A sink full of dishes to wash and dry
A floor covered in crumbs of meals gone by.
I’m not sad to see all the fun times go
The ball will be back same time tomorrow.
