Life is Like That

Updated on January 23, 2017
Life is like that?
Life is like that? | Source

I guess we all have undergone some point in life thinking -

"Oh my God! Now I get this! Wish I had this opportunity earlier."

"Why do I get this, when I want that."

Well, I guess life is like that!

This is a poem trying to capture my feelings about how life is, at times -

My Lord,

I do not know what to do?

My Lord, I do not know,

Cannot understand too,

You give me all that I need,

With tender loving care,

You look after me,

More than anybody ever can.

All this I know,

But I cannot understand,

What YOU are doing to me,

Or where do I stand,

When I want green,

You give me red,

When I want this,

You give me that instead,

When I do not even want,

And don’t even care,

You give me everything, I wanted,

And that’s just not fair!!

Lord, they tell me,

YOU know what’s best,

You know what I want,

And what I should not get,

I know,

Dear LORD,

You give me enough and more,

But Lord,

It’s not what I wanted,

But that is the way life rolls,

I just can’t understand,

What you are doing,

Or going to do,

I just can’t understand,

What I’m doing,

Or where I’m going to,

Am totally in the dark,

Blank and confused,

Dear Lord,

Heed my prayers,

And be with me forever,

Always, My Lord.

Excellent poem and I believe most of us can relate to it.

Sometimes when we are going through the toughest times of our lives and may be asking 'him'--Why me?

But later we realise, this was necessary and there is goodness for us in whatever 'He' plans for us.

Thanks for sharing this inspirational poem!

Good poem, Vellur. Yes, we often have no idea what God's plans are for us. He knows what we need better than we do.

I'm also glad that I came across this poem. I can relate too. You're so right. This can also apply to relationships. When you like someone and they don't reciprocate, then you let them go and sometimes they come back years later, but by the time they do, you just don't care anymore because that chapter has been closed. In life, sometimes we want something so bad, but God doesn't give it to us so we feel disappointed that he's not listening, but he really is. Many times obstacles are blessings in disguise. useful and important

I suppose He knows the correct gift, and we only know our earthly desires. Beautiful write.

We find ourselves like Job during trials we undergo wanting to understand "why". It is hard to ride out those storms but, as you began your poem, He does give us what we need and in love. Remembering this is key as we go through those bleak times of our life. Voted up!
