My Own Version of Spiritual: a Poem

Updated on August 5, 2017

Val is a life-long student of the psycho-philosophy of living and a devoted practitioner of many techniques that enhance personal evolution.

It must have been from ever since this passion was born

to dwell on mystery of life but mostly one of mind

my life feeling somewhat pleasantly torn

between mundane matters and that mysterious kind.

Somehow all blended with nothing really blazing

with my love for people and all living creatures

and every experience eventful and amazing

days never having to display an entertaining feature.

Pushing my limits like a mental athlete

I often found myself in a forbidden land

in states called weird but felt like a feat

out of the box of what's easy to understand.

I learned to change my emotions at will

creating new forms of experiencing the old

like seeing new horizons from a higher hill

sovereign in my spirit and allowing freedom to unfold.

So I call myself spiritual for my spirit in charge

away from religiousness but maybe closer to a god

while feeling like a part of something large

not outside of it, not playing submissively odd.

Such a delightful and absonant poetry touching the most inner being of self, divulged to endless examination "maybe closer to god" - relating to my experience " Definately Closer to God".

I can relate to this poem, too. It's beautiful, Val. The photo matches your words perfectly.

Val......Another wonderful poem and this one by the way, I relate to quite strongly. Many years ago, I pleasantly discovered I am able to "will" myself to control my thoughts and transform my thoughts to my benefit and advantage. It was like a form of freedom, releasing me from the mind-numbing brain washing of long ago.

If I could, I would wish this wonderful gift to everyone! Thanks Val....wishing you health & happiness, Paula
